Tuttle Lake
Overview
Tuttle Lake Recreation Area offers a tranquil escape for RVers looking to immerse themselves in the natural beauty of the Iowa-Minnesota border. Spanning over 2,300 acres of water, this expansive lake serves as the centerpiece for the park. Managed by Emmet County Conservation, the grounds provide a well-maintained setting that prioritizes the outdoor experience over commercial flash, making it a hidden gem for regional travelers seeking a quiet stay.
Location & Surroundings
Situated near the quiet community of Dolliver, IA, the park feels pleasantly remote while remaining accessible. The surrounding landscape is defined by the flat, fertile plains of Northwest Iowa and the shimmer of the lake itself. Because the lake crosses state lines, visitors can enjoy a unique geographical setting where the horizon stretches across two states, offering unobstructed sunset views over the calm waters from several vantage points.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground is equipped to handle modern RVs with 30 and 50-amp electric hookups available at many sites. While the atmosphere is intentionally rustic, travelers have access to essential comforts, including modern restrooms, pressurized showers, and a convenient dump station for self-contained units. For those bringing watercraft, the concrete boat ramp and accessible fishing pier provide easy entry points to the lake for a day spent on the water.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing is the primary draw here, with the lake being well-known for walleye, northern pike, and yellow perch. Beyond the water, the area is a haven for birdwatching enthusiasts, particularly during migration seasons when white pelicans frequent the shallows. For a change of pace, the nearby town of Estherville offers local dining and supplies, while the bustling Okoboji lake region is a manageable drive away for those seeking expanded recreational activities.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for self-sufficient RVers who prefer a quiet, natural environment over high-traffic commercial resorts. It is a fantastic choice for families looking to fish and boat without the crowds, as well as birders and photographers drawn to the lake's edge. If you value peaceful lakeside evenings and a slower pace of travel that focuses on the great outdoors, Tuttle Lake is a perfect fit for your itinerary.

Beautiful area, different spots to fish from. Peaceful, the camp grounds across the lake have better bathrooms. The side I was on make sure you bring T-Paper. I enjoyed the whole time I was there.

Awesome that they upgraded to all 50amp service, downfall to this is the price went up to $30 a night I feel this is a little steep for a county park. Should have had went up to $25
