TwentyNine Palms Resort RV Park and Cottages
Overview
TwentyNine Palms Resort RV Park and Cottages offers a serene high-desert escape for travelers exploring the unique landscape of Southern California. Transitioned from a traditional golf resort, this property maintains an expansive, open feel with a variety of lodging options ranging from spacious RV sites to charming cottages. It serves as a comfortable home base for those seeking a mix of relaxation and outdoor adventure under the vast desert sky. The resort is known for its well-maintained grounds and quiet atmosphere, making it a staple for desert enthusiasts.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just minutes from the North Entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, the resort provides unparalleled access to one of California's most iconic natural wonders. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged rock formations and the distinct silhouettes of Joshua trees. Because the park is located in the city of Twentynine Palms, visitors enjoy the convenience of local services while remaining far enough from major metropolitan centers to experience truly dark night skies perfect for stargazing and desert photography.
Amenities & Park Features
The amenities at this resort are designed to provide a resort-style experience in a rustic setting. Guests have access to an indoor heated swimming pool and a sauna, providing year-round relaxation regardless of the desert temperature. Active travelers will appreciate the fitness center and the pickleball courts, while the large clubhouse serves as a hub for community gatherings. The park also features a scenic pond that attracts local birdlife, offering a peaceful contrast to the arid surroundings of the Mojave Desert.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond hiking and bouldering in the national park, there is plenty to explore nearby. Visitors often spend evenings at the Sky's The Limit Observatory to learn about the cosmos. For local culture, the murals of Twentynine Palms tell the history of the region, while the nearby Tortoise Rock Casino offers entertainment. The resort’s proximity to the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center also makes it a convenient choice for visiting military families looking for a local place to stay.
Who This Park Is Best For
This destination is ideal for winter snowbirds looking for a stable, amenity-rich environment during the cooler months. It also appeals to photographers and hikers who want a comfortable base while exploring the Mojave wilderness. Because the sites are large, it is an excellent choice for big-rig owners who prefer organized resort layouts over primitive camping. If you value modern conveniences like an indoor pool alongside desert beauty, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

We stayed here earlier this month, only for 2 nights but it made a real impression on us. Great facilities, especially the pool when it’s so hot out, but mostly due to the kindness of Debbi at the front desk, she helped us out with every little issue we had (mostly self induced I may add) and really made us feel comfortable, you can’t put a price on kindness so we’d just like to give our thanks. 🙏 would definitely recommend anyone heading through JT Nat Park to use this as their landing point 👌

We booked based on the description on Good Sam and it didn’t come close. They advertise a hot tub and sauna which are both out of service. There is no WiFi as advertised only a hot spot at the main office and game room. They put us really far away from the amenities and near the highway where there was no shade but the place was nearly empty. Perhaps back in the day this was a great place but now it is nothing but broken up roads and poorly maintained “amenities”. Everything is falling apart. I only give the two stars because the pool was open (not heated as advertised) and office staff was nice. Not worth the visit!

Great place! Clean facilities, plenty of room and not packed with people. Super quiet. LOVE that it’s inside a fence! Pool, hot tub, showers, toilets, laundry, game room. They even do trash pick up each am at the sites. Staff was friendly and helpful! Diamond in the rough. Will absolutely stay here again!

Nice, quiet place with large spots. Staff is friendly. We have a 42-foot 5th wheel, and they are able to accommodate us.
