Twin Acres Campground

Overview

Twin Acres Campground offers a classic, family-oriented camping experience in Northwest Ohio. Established as a peaceful retreat, it features wooded campsites that cater to both seasonal residents and weekend travelers. The park maintains a quiet, community-focused atmosphere where guests can unwind beneath a mature tree canopy. It provides a balanced mix of rustic charm and essential modern conveniences to ensure every visitor enjoys a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the small village of Whitehouse, the park is conveniently located just south of the Toledo metro area. Its most notable neighbor is the Oak Openings Preserve Metropark, which is widely regarded as one of the most biologically diverse areas in Ohio. The surrounding landscape consists of unique sand dunes and dense forests, offering a refreshing escape from the urban sprawl while remaining just minutes from the shopping and dining in Maumee.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is well-equipped with full-hookup sites that include water, sewer, and electricity. Families often gather at the swimming pool during the summer months or utilize the on-site recreation hall for community gatherings and games. Key features include:

  • Recreational facilities such as a basketball court, horseshoe pits, and a playground.
  • Convenience services including clean restrooms, showers, and a laundry room.
  • Social spaces like the recreation hall that host various events throughout the season.

A small camp store is also located on-site for basic necessities and camping gear.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the direct access to the Wabash Cannonball Trail, a premier hiking and biking path that cuts through the scenic region. A short drive takes visitors to the Toledo Zoo, which is consistently ranked among the best in the nation. Other nearby highlights include the Butterfly House at Wheeler Farms and the various museums and riverfront dining options found in downtown Toledo, making it an excellent base for regional exploration.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is an ideal fit for family campers seeking a safe and engaging environment for children. It also serves as a perfect home base for travelers who want to explore the natural beauty of the Oak Openings region without sacrificing proximity to city services. Because of its quiet and friendly nature, it is well-suited for nature lovers and RVers who prefer a more laid-back, community-centric campground over a high-traffic resort experience.

Spent 3 nights here in a pull through site at the back of the park. 95% of this park appears to be seasonal with the clutter that can come from that. The park was nice and orderly during the week. Super quiet, I don't think this is the case on the weekends as I suspect it is booming with activity. Lots of trees. Verizon home internet got 68 mbps.

We were just passing through and Twin Acres was the perfect place to stay for the night. Office staff/owner was super pleasant and regular campers all made us feel welcome with their “good evening”s and “hello”. The campground looks fun and full of life with a Sat night golf cart parade. Clean and well maintained. We will stop again if the opportunity arises. Thank you!

This was our first time camping here. Our experience was great!! The grounds were exceptionally clean and very well maintained. Everyone we met there was very kind. The walking trail is perfect for little adventures. Be warned, there's dinosaurs and big foot living right off the trail!! We'd love to make twin acres one of our regular camping spots!

Booked this campground for a week and absolutely love it here. Perfect camp ground for peace and relaxation. Staff is very friendly and so are the other campers. Showers are clean and they provide some awesome activities. Will definitely be staying here much more often.

Was OK. Pretty much a seasonal campground. Nice bathhouse with a shower. “Pit” toilets in the campground. Water and electric hookups. Level site. OK for a short stay. We visited relatives in the area. Very quite. Great F-16 shows from local ANG base. Per friendly
