Umatilla/Target Meadows
Overview
Umatilla/Target Meadows offers a quintessential Pacific Northwest camping experience tucked away in the Blue Mountains of Oregon. Located near Weston, this site provides a peaceful retreat from modern noise, placing visitors in the heart of the Umatilla National Forest. It is characterized by its wide-open meadow views and towering evergreen borders, making it a favorite for those seeking a quiet connection with the environment.
Location & Surroundings
Situated at a high elevation, the park is surrounded by dense pine forests and sprawling seasonal wildflowers. The location provides a refreshing cool climate during the summer months, making it a popular escape for those traveling through the inland northwest. The surrounding rugged terrain of the Northern Blue Mountains offers a sense of true wilderness isolation while remaining accessible via Highway 204.
Amenities & Park Features
This is a primitive camping area designed for those who enjoy dry camping or boondocking. Visitors will find basic essentials like vault toilets and heavy-duty picnic tables at each site. There are no utility hookups or potable water available, so RVers must arrive with full tanks and charged batteries. The park features spacious sites that can accommodate moderately sized rigs and even equestrian travelers looking for a place to tether their horses.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here, with miles of multi-use trails accessible directly from the campground for hiking, mountain biking, or horseback riding. Just a short drive away is the Tollgate area and Langdon Lake, offering additional scenic vistas and fishing opportunities. Wildlife enthusiasts should keep an eye out for elk and deer that frequently graze in the open meadows during the early morning and twilight hours.
Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for self-contained RVers who prioritize privacy and natural beauty over resort-style luxuries. It is a fantastic choice for equestrian campers and those looking to disconnect from cellular service to reconnect with the outdoors. If you enjoy crisp mountain air and the simplicity of forest life, Target Meadows is a perfect fit for your off-grid travel style.

We've camped here a lot. Nice campground, friendly camp host
Dean Ward
Mostly nice and clean. Host does a very good job and cleaning up after the inconsiderate campers. Our first neighbors were good. The next ones were very loud and obnoxious. The host haas to tell them three times to turn down their music. All in all. A nice place for a quick camp. Clean and maintained for a good price.

Love this spot for quiet camping, connecting with nature and spending time with loved ones.

Beautiful and usually quite empty: if you plan your trip right. It's a nice place to spend a few nights, or just come by for a picnic and some huckleberry picking if they are in season.

We try to come here every year. 2019 was a banner year for Huckleberries. But even when the berries aren't as abundant, this is a nice campground for hiking and camping. Be sure to bring your own water supply.
