You could not find a more beautiful place to go camping. Great atmosphere and environment. Really cannot go wrong. If if you go a little later at the end of summer, usually the bugs have been frozen off.

Great place to camp during the week but I heard it can be crowded during the weekend. Camp host are very nice. Make sure you have a way to level your trailer. There is water to fill your trailer and the toilets are clean Don't try to fish in Beaver or the Res. No bites and a steep walk to the Res.

gorgeous magical aspen forest. we arrived early in the week and were only one of maybe three other campers. the camp host was off for the week so we had a very quiet stay. cows roaming all over which made it kind of fun. the road in was a nice change from highway driving. the road out and over owl creek pass into ridgway was incredible.

Although the reservoir was half way full (or empty), the whole area is fantastic.

A beautiful campground, we only walked through it so if you're planning on coming here to camp check before you come.

Beautiful campground. For some reason i thought I could walk to lake easily..... not the case, quite a trek.

Nicely spaced campsites in thick aspen groves but no scenic views from the sites. The kiosk map at the campground entry show 3 loops but one is a group site. The campsites are located very high above the reservoir so no lake side sites but there is a trail down to the lake. Silver Jack reservoir is extremely low in August 2021 with many side bays compltely dry. Not nearly as beautiful as it must be in early summer. Be sure to walk to the observation site for a high view of reservoir. Directly across from the road turnoff to the Observation-Day Use Area is a road to Rowdy & Clear Lakes - rough road but pretty spot to hike-fish. When we camped there was heavy smoke from California's wildfires. Silver Jack campground hosts were very friendly, kept clean (vault) bathrooms. Campground had water, no bear boxes unfortunately, easy fire wood collection from the ground and hosts also sold firewood bundles for $10.

Great campground. The rangers were missing the host and were quick to come great us and make sure we were comfortable and got us registered. The quiet hours were from 10pm-6am but it was quiet usually from 8pm when it got dark and stayed quiet through the day. There were a few trails but the kids LOVED them. The park was gorgeous and the bathrooms were clean. I saw a great mixture of campers and tents. Plenty of deer and cattle. One night we heard wolves howling in the distance. Two nights we had rain. We stayed in late July. Make sure you have fire starters. This is a moist area. I would recommend this place for sure. I am glad that our family came. I'm sure we were the loudest ones with four kids... 👍 There were other children and multiple hikers. There are plenty of people with kayaks because of the lakes. Easy access to Montrose and Ouray. Owl Creek pass is gorgeous. We made it in a non 4 wheel drive car before the rain, but heard it might be harder after. It is longer but gorgeous. Either way, if you are able to make this park part of your vacation, please do. Don't pass it up!
