We had high hopes for our stay at United Campground, but unfortunately, it fell short of our expectations, leading us to leave a day early. I have great memories of staying here as a kid with my family over 20 years ago. This campground doesn’t seem well-suited for families any more. There are many rules which made it feel more restrictive than we’d hoped for a camping experience. The grass area by the train is mostly weeds. The rock driveways make it hard for kids to enjoy bikes. And the front desk staff seemed overwhelmed and wasn’t as welcoming as we expected, and the check-in process felt outdated, relying entirely on handwritten paperwork without modern computer systems. The facilities were a challenge: the showers were not as clean as one would expect (see photos). The bathroom access has a tricky code system that made access difficult. The WiFi was listed as an amenity but wasn’t connected to the internet. The sites are quite close together, requiring you to share outdoor space with neighbors, which felt a bit uncomfortable and lacked the privacy we were seeking. (see photos) Additionally, some interactions with permanent residents, of which there are many, were disappointing, as they were LESS than friendly toward our children, making our kids feel out of place. This, combined with the other issues, led us to cut our stay short. This campground might work better for self-contained RVers without kids. It felt like we accidentally stayed in a retirement home. There is also a large apartment building that looks over the campground. We did enjoy the trains coming through the campground. That was fun. We hope the management can address these concerns to improve future stays. Good Luck!

Friendly, professional staff, wonderful campground on the river, beautiful views of the canyon, clean bathrooms with great water pressure in the shower, excellent laundry facility, and an awesome swimming pool. Reasonably priced for the area. We will definitely be back!!

This has been one of my favorite RV parks so far. Great atmosphere. The bathrooms were super up to date and clean. The campsites were even better. They're shaded and have full hookups plus ones with only electric and water if you wanted. Someone came everyday to make sure dust was down on the little roads by putting water on them. The pool was so clean. The pool could have been a tad warmer, but it was a cooler day and we just wanted to get in the pool before we left. They have a trolley stop right outside the park, which was great because we had to put our car in the shop. The employees were so kind! They had a tiny store, but it was chalk full of things that we wanted, like ice cream. Laundry room was beautiful. Laundry detergent machines in there and everything you needed. There was one washing machine that filled with water but didn't wash, one of the working gave us our money back and started working on it. This place was top tier.

TENT camping was fantastic. Grounds are very well maintained. Showers and laundry were the best of our trip. The 4 or so antique narrow gauge trains that come through during the day were so cool to see. The kids really enjoyed our stay. Would camp here again.

We chose this place for two key reasons 1) it's located on the Durango trolley route (which is FREE during the summers), and 2) the Durango/Silverton steam train passes right THROUGH the campground multiple times per day! Awesome! 😎 Our site was full hookups, very nice laundry facility, super clean bathrooms and showers, and the hosts were very nice. Highly recommended.

Absolutely the best campground in the Durango area. Tim and Sherry are wonderful host and it's a beautiful campground in the train goes right through it. You just can't get better than this.

Showers/bathroom good condition, laundromat nice. Sadly the pool closes Labor day wk it was a decent size. The pads are all stone which isn't my first choice putting down outdoor carpet helps. The Durango railroad train runs kinda thru the camp with plenty of grassy seating to wave as the train goes by. Overall nice Campground.

After traveling all day, arrived to set up a tent. Nice area except we were so close to other tenters, it was like sleeping in a room with 2 double beds next to strangers. Even after I complained, we had tents less than 2 foot from mine. Guess they don’t believe in social distancing.

What a life!! We tent camped. We loved it here so much that we extended our stay. Camping in grass was heaven. The facilities were very clean. The hosts were incredibly nice. The pool was perfect. We had cows near by grazing all day, Owls communicating at night and I felt so safe. The train is so close that the people wave as they go by. I promise this is not a mistake. I highly recommend this place. OH! Also the trolley for town stops right at the office. Easy peasy drive to town but also the trolley is good for a night of breweries.

We had a very nice week long stay. Really enjoyed our shady site, visited the pool often. Liked watching the train go by. Being on the Durango Trolley route is a big bonus, we used it a lot to get to trails for hiking and into town.
