Valdez KOA Journey
Alaska is truly the land that calls you. Once you visit, the spell it casts will call you again and again. The vastness, the majestic beauty, the lure of land not yet traveled.
The wild beauty of America's Last Frontier awaits at the Valdez KOA. Eighteen acres of wilderness surround the campground, where you can easily access hiking and ATV trails. Beyond, glacier-caked peaks dominate the view in all directions. A pristine stream flows right through the campground, Bald eagles soar by, and the occasional bear wanders through. Come camp from your RV, Tent or one of our Lodging options. With a camp store, Wi-Fi, and other on-site services, you can settle right in and get ready to explore this magnificent region. Charter a local guide to fish world-class waters for salmon and halibut. Board a wildlife excursion boat to scan the Sound for humpback whales, fuzzy sea otters, comical-looking puffins, and other birds not often seen in the Lower 48. Come face-to-face with one of the largest tidewater glaciers in North America, an ice sheet as high as a football field, and another big Alaska memory. Open Memorial Day (weather permitting). ALL MILITARY ARE WELCOME! WE ARE A VETERAN-OWNED CAMPGROUND. Max pull thru: 100 feet. Your hosts: Jason & Kristin Britt.

Great place to stay. Centrally located between town and Allison Point fishing (Solomon Gulch Fish Hatchery). Grounds are well taken care of. The rest rooms and showers very clean throughout the day. Laundry area was clean and well taken care of. This was our second stay and will stay again. Lori and Celine are awesome!! The staff are friendly and helpful. Keep smiling- it’s contagious.

It's a KOA. I don't have a lot of experience with KOAs but I understand they're all pretty similar. Although I have to say the shower / bathrooms in this place were immaculate and provided towels. The staff up front also wonderful. My first day they were doing construction on the road so it was a little irritating to get to but by the second day they'd already completed that section. It has very good access to the Solomon gulch fish hatchery which I highly recommend. Also while you're in Valdez definitely take a trip on the Lu-lu Belle.

We are VIP members and always stay at KOAs. We have stayed at all of the KOAs in Alaska but we had to cancel our trip to this location since they do not have potable water. They didn't tell anyone and people don't know about it until they check in. We happened to read about it online and called them. The state has indicated that their water is not potable and that it must be boiled in order to use it. They consider their water potable since you have to boil it. That is not potable water. Their KOA page doesn't mention it and they never mention it on their Facebook page or in the email confirming the reservation. Because my husband is in remission from cancer, we can't risk having their water introduced into our RV tanks. They offered to cancel our reservation and then when I checked my cancelation notice, they didn't refund our deposit. We canceled due to their lack of communicating this issue, that they have known about all summer apparently. Had we been advised of this in a timely manner, we would have canceled a long time ago. I guess this will be one KOA that we never visit since they are not truthful in providing information that is necessary. Beware if you stay here.

My family generally avoids koas due to bad past experiences but I am so thankful we stayed at this one. The tent sites aren't right next to the road or under huge lights. The showers are nice and hot. But best of all you can't beat the service. Our rental car was unsafe to drive out of here and we were stuck. The office was not only understanding but did absolutely everything they could to help us out. They gave us late checkout until we figured out what was going on. They gave us a safe place to store our food from animals. They shared every resource they knew of including tracking down and bringing us the number for the local taxi to get us to the ferry so we could finally leave town. They even let us leave the rental car there until the company finally found a tow truck willing to come tow it 300 miles. Seriously the most supportive, vest campground staff we've ever encountered in 40+ years of camping. Stay here you won't regret it. Thank you so much we hope to return someday without being stranded.

I highly recommend this campsite!! The staff are all so nice and very knowledgeable about the city and are ready to answer any questions you have! Since it's located at the edge of town, it's very quiet. It's a campsite, so you'll obviously hear the people camping around you, but you aren't on top of each other. The campsite itself held a lot of activities while we were there if we wanted something to do. They also have actual bathrooms (which were always clean!) and hot showers. They also have a sink to wash dishes in. A nice playground and a doggy playground. Each campsite had its own table and fireplace, which was so nice and convenient. And the wifi was an amazing amenity! I seriously recommend if you want somewhere quiet and cozy to camp
