Possibly my favorite Michigan State Park! Its location makes it convenient to many of the harder to reach places in the central UP. It is beautiful, sites are spacious, the whole part is beautifully maintained. Restrooms are clean, showers are hot. There’s a lovely, peaceful, beach area, including a picnic pavilion and playground. If there’s any drawback, it would be it’s nearness to the highway. During the day there is some street noise, but the evenings are very quiet.

Nice park. We stayed in the overflow park at Peshekee river in a dry cabin . Nice set up,and quick access to overlook trail on the river. It's worth the hike. Great piece of scenery Cabin was quiet, that's good because theirs lots of traffic near by. Cabins are dark so bring headlamps and lanterns

Clean campsites. Good size sites. Clean restrooms and showers. Friendly helpful staff. I had to move sites after work, when I was due or at 1 and couldn't get moved until 230. Awesome stay. Harvest festival was fun.

We camped here for 3 nights. The camp hosts were super friendly even had homemade donuts along with coffee and hot chocolate on the weekends. The grounds were tidy. It is less than 30 miles to Marquette and there is so much to do. We didn't get out on the lake any but it looked nice. Would stay here again.

Nice campground and beach. Had site 40 under a huge three and thank god it was a blessing with the crazy heat! Also super close to the beach stairs. Overall a nice place, quiet and well maintained with some trails across the street but not the best trails, narrow, bushy and signa and benches falling apart. I am giving 4 stars and not 5 for 2 main reasons apart from the trails: 1) There is a laundry room in the facility in front of the beach but impossible to get quarters to use the washing machine and the dryer (2$ each). The concession there has a policy of not giving any change and the rangers at the gate don’t have change. You have to go very far to get any change….there is no store in Champion… 2) There are nice showers but not a single drop of hot water…not clear whether it is an ad hoc issue or a permanent thing. Water is not even lukewarm but icy cold…not great. Rangers are nice folks but clueless…and no camp host to help. PS May want to buy wood in Champion by the side of the road (5$) as the Park did not have any but was expecting some in the coming week or so.

Clean, friendly and quiet, the things I love in a campground. Beautiful sunsets, nice for hiking, bike riding and kayaking. Too bad kayak rents are not available more often. There is a grocery store a few miles to the north that is well stocked. A few nearby restaurants with good food.

Lots of trails nearby. Huge lake with a nice beach and big playground. Nice concession stand. Bathrooms were very good with two sides so that you could still use them while one side was being cleaned. Awesome bump tracks for bikes too.

A beautiful peaceful campground. There is a lot of beach! With swings by the water and a big playground, plus a nice skate park! Bathrooms and showers were clean, water was nice and warm. There is a small camp store by the beach for ice cream/ice/firewood/snacks. There is also a restaurant not far from the campground. We definitely enjoyed our time here relaxing by the fire and on the beach!

This is a nice state park, was packed when we went. Our site was nice sized, not too close to either site on the sides. The bathrooms are modern with newer looking showers that were clean and had hot water. There are hiking trails across the road from the park. Craig Lake State Park is close by offering beautiful scenery, trails, wild blueberries, and water activities.

This is a beautiful state park. Super friendly staff. We stayed on the rustic camp side. The middle sites are really close together so no real privacy but we stayed through part of the week and the camp basically emptied out on Sunday which was nice, so the rest of our time felt more private. The pit toilets are extremely clean and don't even smell. They do have showers and regular toilets on the modern campground which isn't far. Lake michigamme was really pretty and the water wasn't too cold. They have a nice playground, skate/bike park and some cool trails to walk. The river trail is a 1.5 mile loop which takes you to a scenic overlook and that was amazing ! Overall we had a great stay here and we will definitely be coming back.
