It offers a blend of natural beauty and essential comforts, providing a relaxed environment for those looking to escape the hustle of larger commercial resorts while staying close to the water.

Location & Surroundings

Located just outside the village of Cameron, the park is nestled within a lush, wooded area that offers plenty of shade for travelers. The primary draw is its direct access to Prairie Lake, which is the northernmost lake in a popular six-lake chain. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the quiet rural backdrop of Northwestern Wisconsin, featuring mature hardwoods and scenic shoreline views that change beautifully with the seasons.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features 40 campsites, many of which are equipped with 50-amp electrical hookups to accommodate modern RVs. On-site facilities include a clean shower building, flush toilets, and a convenient dump station for self-contained units. For those bringing watercraft, the improved boat launch and dedicated fish cleaning station make it easy to spend a full day on the water before returning to a comfortable, well-maintained campsite.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor recreation is the main attraction here, with the six-lake chain offering miles of shoreline for world-class panfish fishing and motorized boating. Just a short drive away, history buffs can visit the Pioneer Village Museum to learn about local heritage and see historic structures. The nearby towns of Cameron and Chetek offer charming local eateries, antique shops, and essential grocery stores for restocking your supplies during a long-term stay.

Who This Park Is Best For

Beautiful campground. Lots of pretty trees and wildlife. Boat launch and water for fishing. Friendly care taker and clean vault toilets. Price is good as well. 🖐 5 stars will recommend.

It's absolutely beautiful!!!!! However, the management needs changed. You used to get a huge wheelbarrow full of wood for 10$ now you get a small bundles that burn quickly. I did not fish here this time but everyone I seen said fishing AMAZING! My favorite is the quiet evenings if you get a chance patiently wait for the cooing of the Loons. God certainly blessed this place with His grace and love. Enjoy nice hot showers for small fee. If you get the chance definitely a place to visit. You can tent camp or campers/RV. Also a dumping station for those as well. Electric hookups. And a fish cleaning station. Enjoy the beauty. Yes there is also a playground for kiddos. As for WiFi I didn't know there was, and caretaker doesn't offer any information and is hard to reach. Recommend Barron find a new caretaker ASAP losing business for sure. It use to be packed all the time here sad to say not the case any longer. Why pay 10 bucks for 2 small bundles of wood. Forage for yourself there's so much starter wood. Disappointment in only management. Wish I had taken more photos.

Checking into the Veterans Park in Cameron Wisconsin. When paying the entry fee for camping, an old lady visited the host and was listening to the conversation. The host asked if I wanted to use the dump it would cost an extra 5 dollars. Being it was only 2 days, I said no. The visitor made a comment interjection that I just wasn't going to pay the extra fee and use the dump anyway. Pretty presumptuous of her to make such a comment not knowing me or my previous service. My intention was to use the dump at the next campground. She must have figured it was her business to keep the host abreast of the shysters entering our parks and taking advantage of the state and systems set up for us Veterans.

Very clean and quiet. Some boat traffic but not too bad. Very family friendly.

This was a neat little park to visit. It offers easy walking down to the lake, a villa for renting, campsites all nestled among the trees. Place is clean and well kept.
