Victoria Park Campground

Overview

Victoria Park Campground offers a unique blend of lakeside relaxation and small-town charm. Situated directly on the shores of Lake Ontario in Cobourg, this municipal campground is a seasonal favorite for those who want to be steps away from the water. It provides a picturesque setting where the sound of waves serves as a constant backdrop. The park is managed by the town, ensuring a well-maintained environment for seasonal and transient visitors alike. Unlike isolated wilderness camps, this destination feels like a coastal getaway integrated into a vibrant community.

Location & Surroundings

The park's location is its primary draw, nestled between the Cobourg Beach and the historic downtown core. Campers enjoy easy access to the famous white sands and the boardwalk, making it one of the most accessible beachside RV spots in Ontario. The surrounding area is characterized by lush greenery and the bustling Cobourg Marina, offering a scenic environment that balances natural beauty with urban convenience. The proximity to the water provides cooling breezes and spectacular sunrises over the Great Lakes horizon.

Amenities & Park Features

Travelers will find a range of practical facilities designed for a comfortable stay. The campground features sites with full hookups including water, sewer, and 30-amp electricity. On-site comfort stations provide clean washrooms and showers, while laundry facilities cater to longer stays. Key park features include:

  • Beach access just steps from your site
  • Clean washrooms and shower facilities
  • Central playground for children

The layout is designed to accommodate various rig sizes, though the beachfront proximity remains the star attraction. Families often appreciate the nearby canteen, ensuring that essential needs and entertainment are always within walking distance of the RV.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the beach, visitors can explore the charming streets of downtown Cobourg, which is filled with local boutiques and dining options. The Victoria Park area hosts various festivals throughout the summer, including Canada Day celebrations and sandcastle competitions. The historic town hall and local farmers' market provide a glimpse into the local culture and heritage of the region. For those looking to explore further, the Rotary Harbourfront Park and ecological trails offer excellent opportunities for cycling, birdwatching, and peaceful afternoon strolls.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is an ideal match for active families and RVers who value walkability and social environments. If you enjoy having a vibrant beach scene and town amenities at your doorstep, this park is perfect. It is best suited for those who prefer a community-oriented atmosphere over secluded boondocking. It is a top choice for travelers looking to experience the classic Great Lakes summer tradition without sacrificing proximity to modern conveniences. The combination of sand, surf, and city makes it a standout destination for social campers.

While we didn't stay at the campground (friends had rented an AirBnb Yacht), we did take time to check out the area and ammenities. Great location with the beach right there, food trucks, and steps to downtown with lots of other options!

Spent 4 nights this week. Booked a beach site. Very narrow site - not much room between neighbors if one has a full size rig. Washrooms are dirty. Showers full of sand. One of the toilets was running non stop for 3 days & when I told the office, they said they're summer students & don't know how to fix. What a waste of water! Nothing to do for adults other than look at the beach. Playground & splash pad for kids. No lifeguards on duty

They changed the rules from prior years without notice. If you ask for a refund, they will keep a good chunk of it. I was too civilized to get real mad at them in person, unlike my friend, who was able to get his money back that way.

You can’t have you own electricity if you have a tent. Washrooms are way too warm no air conditioning. The beach gets way too busy especially on weekends. You can’t park more than one vehicle at a site. Definitely not coming back here DO NOT COME HERE.

Very nice site and beautiful beach. Lovely park and playground just next to the site. Recommended for families. Very good presence of police. That's why it is busy.
