Viking RV Park

Overview

Viking RV Park serves as a peaceful gateway for travelers exploring the rugged beauty of the Great Northern Peninsula. Located in the charming fishing village of Saint Lunaire-Griquet, this family-operated park offers a welcoming atmosphere for those venturing to the edge of the continent. It provides a reliable base for history enthusiasts and nature lovers alike, combining essential modern conveniences with the raw, coastal charm of rural Newfoundland.

Location & Surroundings

The park is situated in a prime coastal location surrounded by barren hills, tuckamore trees, and the Atlantic Ocean. Its position in Saint Lunaire-Griquet puts visitors within minutes of the legendary L’Anse aux Meadows, the only authenticated Norse site in North America. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dramatic cliffs and clear waters, where guests can often spot drifting icebergs or whales breaching just off the coast during the early summer months.

Amenities & Park Features

Viking RV Park is designed to accommodate various camping styles, offering level pull-through sites that cater to larger rigs. Most sites include 30-amp full hookups, providing water, sewer, and electricity for a comfortable stay. On-site facilities include clean washrooms, hot showers, and laundry services. Families will appreciate the playground, while the communal fire pits offer a perfect spot to swap travel stories under the vast, unpolluted northern sky.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The main draw is undoubtedly the proximity to the Viking ruins at L’Anse aux Meadows, located just a short drive away. For a deeper dive into history, the nearby Norstead Viking Port of Trade offers a living history experience with reconstructed buildings and replica ships. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore the Iceberg Trail, which provides stunning vistas of the coastline. Local boat tours offer up-close encounters with majestic icebergs and humpback whales, making every day an adventure.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for history buffs wanting to walk in the footsteps of ancient explorers. It is perfectly suited for active retirees and road trippers who value a quiet, scenic environment over a bustling resort atmosphere. Those seeking a functional and friendly home base for exploring the remote beauty of the Viking Trail will find exactly what they need here. It is a must-stay for anyone looking to reach the northernmost tip of Newfoundland.

Nice campground with very nice and clean facilities located 5 minutes away from the Viking Ruins. Good pricing too. The place to stay if you are going to see the Vikings.

We arrived in here with a plan to tent. However it was windy, cool & drizzly. So we took a cabin for two nights. The cabin was warm, clean & self-contained. The price was very reasonable as well. The camp owners are terrific. You can get a cooked breakfast, sweets & treats, hamburger & fries, all made on the premises.

We stayed in one of the three cabins. It was absolutely spotless clean, warm and cozy, very well appointed and decorated to charm anyone. Coffee maker, kettle, water in the fridge, water for the coffee maker, microwave, etc. Bathroom was also spotless, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, lots of towels etc. And lots of hot water with plenty of pressure. All in all it was perfect. On top of all that the owners/staff were wonderfully friendly and the price was very reasonable. Stay here if you can.

Very close to L'anse aux meadows historic site. The campground was fully booked, but the friendly owners called one (frequent?) guest, if he would arrive that day. The guy said, he would arrive the next day, so the owner offered us, to stay overnight. Very uncomplicated and friendly.
