Located just outside Lumberton, TX, the park serves as a gateway to the unique ecological diversity of the coastal plains. The surrounding landscape is characterized by cypress-shaded bayous and sandy creek banks, creating a backdrop that feels secluded despite being near local conveniences. Its position along the Village Creek Paddling Trail makes it a prime spot for those looking to explore the waterways, while its proximity to the Gulf Coast region provides a temperate climate for year-round exploration.

Wonderful park, as most are in Texas! Bella and I enjoyed an amazing stay! Hospitality and RV site was excellent!

The park was small and the primitive camp sites are nice but you do have to walk a ways from the parking lot to get to them, make sure you bring a buggy. There are no restrooms by the primitive site only Port O potties. The restrooms and shower are pretty nice by the RV site. If you’re coming for hiking they still have not repaired the damage from Hurricane Harvey so the trail to get to the swimming isn’t open. They don’t tell you this when you check in and the maps are not updated. I don’t see how after 8 years they can’t update the maps. We came to hike and swim and are not able to swim. We asked to canoe yesterday and were told no as they didn’t have enough staff. Pretty bummed we came to do these things and couldn’t. There are loud trains throughout the night and construction happenings very early in the morning. It’s very loud at night.

Beautiful park with lots of hiking trails. One is currently closed for maintenance, meaning the upkeep is great here. We love the little workout trail! Next time we will rent kayaks and/or bring our bikes!

I've stayed here twice. Once in a tent, that experience was ok. The spaces are tight. This time we stayed in a cabin. It was really nice and peaceful the restroom was nice and big. The kitchen was very nice. Plenty of hot water to go around. The fishing and swimming access wasn't good. However, it was very quiet. The restrooms are nice. The trails are pretty well marked and maintained.

Staff and volunteers are very nice, but prepare yourself for dragging all your stuff from the parking lot to the primitive campground. Also, there is a deranged drunken neighbor across the water who plays karaoke, revs motors, and has his friends singing and yelling over dancehall-quality speakers all night long. Train noise throughout the night too. The water was too high to rent a kayak. We fished and hiked the trails. One shower house/flushing toilets for the whole camp, driving distance from the primitive camping.
