Village of Silverton Campground
Overview
The Village of Silverton Campground offers a serene escape on the eastern shores of Slocan Lake. This municipal park provides a traditional camping experience where the focus remains on the stunning natural beauty of the West Kootenays. Visitors are treated to a peaceful lakeside atmosphere that feels worlds away from the hustle of larger tourist hubs. Whether you are stopping for a night or staying for a week, the park serves as a gateway to the rugged wilderness and clear glacier-fed waters of the region.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the heart of the Slocan Valley, the campground is nestled within the small, historic community of Silverton. The most striking feature of this location is the panoramic view of Valhalla Provincial Park, which sits directly across the lake. The surroundings are defined by dense evergreen forests and the towering peaks of the Selkirk Mountains. The park’s proximity to the water allows for easy access to the pebbled shoreline, where the air is crisp and the sunsets are frequently spectacular.
Amenities & Park Features
This is a rustic destination focused on the essentials of outdoor living. The campground features fifteen sites, many of which are designated for dry camping as there are no on-site power or water hookups. However, guests have access to well-maintained washroom and shower facilities to ensure a comfortable stay. Each site is equipped with a fire pit and a picnic table, encouraging classic campfire evenings. While some sites can accommodate larger setups, the park is best suited for those who appreciate a low-impact footprint.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor enthusiasts will find no shortage of activities just steps from their campsite. Slocan Lake is perfect for paddling, swimming, or fishing in its deep, cool waters. For those who prefer land-based adventures, the Galena Trail offers a fantastic route for hiking and cycling between Silverton and New Denver. History buffs should not miss a trip to the Sandon Ghost Town, a short drive away, which provides a fascinating look into the area's rich silver mining heritage and local mountain culture.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for travelers who prefer simplicity and natural beauty over resort-style amenities. It is a perfect fit for van lifers, tent campers, and owners of smaller travel trailers who do not require full hookups. If you are a photography enthusiast or a kayaker looking for direct water access and quiet mornings, this campground will exceed your expectations. It remains a top choice for those seeking a genuine, unpretentious Kootenay experience in one of British Columbia's most scenic valleys.

Absolutely beautiful. Slocan lake is clear, refreshing and wonderful. Silverton Campground is a quiet little place tucked right against the lake. No power hookups on the lakefront sites and the quarters are close to the neighboring sites with little privacy in between but it isn't a huge site so there isn't a ton of people. Access from our site right to the water meant we weren't spending much time at the trailer anyways. Everyone was respectful and pleasant. Highly recommend. Slocan lake has some of the best swimming around.

Such a cute little campground! The tenting sites were perfect with a beautiful view of the lake. We really appreciated the indoor toilets and the option to use the pay showers. A peaceful, well-kept spot we’d definitely recommend!

Excellent campground on Slocan Lake. We had our pickup and tent. Would recommend. Hostest was nice. Clean washrooms and sink to wash dishes was a plus.

Silverton Campground is one of the nicest campgrounds we stayed at. Trish was welcoming and helpful for any of our needs! The site, bathrooms, showers and beach were pristine. The views at this campground were also gorgeous. Highly recommend staying here!

The campground is much smaller than I thought but the beach sites have a great view of the water, we stayed in 14. If we came here again we would book #15. The creek sites are off on there own and close together. The town of Silverton is close by, the main grocery store was closed when we were here. There are two parks close by with great beach’s. The boat launch is very steep and the water was very low, not great for our bigger boat.
