Waco Lake - COE/Airport
Overview
Airport Park at Waco Lake offers a refreshing natural escape managed by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Located on the northern shores of the reservoir, this park provides a scenic backdrop for travelers looking to enjoy the great outdoors without straying too far from urban conveniences. The park is characterized by its sprawling waterfront views and well-spaced campsites that emphasize the beauty of the Texas landscape. It is a peaceful destination where the focus remains on the lake's tranquility and the local wildlife.
Location & Surroundings
Situated just outside the city limits of Waco, Texas, the park sits adjacent to the Waco Regional Airport. While the name suggests a busy transit hub, the area is surprisingly quiet, with only occasional light aircraft passing overhead. The terrain is relatively flat and dotted with mature shade trees, providing relief from the Texas sun. The proximity to the water ensures that many sites offer direct access to the shoreline, making it a prime spot for sunset watching and birding along the lake's edge.
Amenities & Park Features
This COE park is well-equipped for comfortable RV stays, featuring a variety of essential services. Visitors appreciate the following features:
- Electric and water hookups available at most sites.
- Spacious, paved camping pads suitable for big rigs.
- Access to boat ramps and a dedicated swimming beach.
- Convenient dump station and clean restroom facilities.
While there are no sewer connections at individual sites, the park's layout makes it easy to navigate to the central disposal area before heading out.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Adventure awaits just a short drive from the park gates. History buffs shouldn't miss the Waco Mammoth National Monument, located only minutes away. For those interested in shopping and dining, the famous Magnolia Market at the Silos and the downtown Waco area are easily accessible. Nature lovers can explore the extensive trail systems at Cameron Park or visit the Cameron Park Zoo. Whether you prefer kayaking on the lake or exploring local museums, the park serves as a perfect central hub.
Who This Park Is Best For
Airport Park is an ideal choice for families and water enthusiasts who enjoy boating, fishing, or swimming. It appeals to budget-conscious RVers who value the affordability and spaciousness typical of Corps of Engineers properties. Because of the large, level sites, it is also a great fit for big-rig owners seeking a reliable stopover. If you prefer a rustic, quiet environment over a high-density commercial resort, this park will likely fit your travel style perfectly.

Rv park use to be a gem, but now due to lack of funds and staff it’s a tired old park. Bathrooms are dirty and unkept, lawn stickers everywhere, some of the rv site shelters have no roofs of them. The volunteers were very pleasant and helpful but they are limited in what they can do. The adjoining airport has 3 flight schools so the planes are constantly taking off and landing. It’s a shame to see what the park has been reduced to.

We came here to watch the eclipse and it was a perfect spot. The park itself is pretty run down, but it looks like it was once a very nice park. There are a few bathrooms, lots of picnic tables and a play area. Our credit card got stuck in the second pay machine and a ranger had to help us pull it out. There were a lot of birds including cormorants, osprey, different ducks, and some song birds. It was also blue bonnet season, and the field in the park was filled with them!

Very scenic camp ground around the lake. The RV camp grounds are very well maintained. With grills and covered picnic benches for each site. The view from every RV site of the lake is beautiful. Well maintained park. Plenty of restrooms and showers- clean. Boat ramps available.

Pamela and I travel full time in our rv and COE rv parks are on very top list. Airport Park is another prove why we prefer COE. This park is simply beautiful 🍀. I am a photographer and Airport Park is great place for landscape photo shootings wit lovely sunsets. We believe ratings are a must and we always make some time for posting reviews. We spent 2 nights in site # 22 and then we moved to site # 25 wor next 2 nights. We usually book as we travel mostly in last minute because we love to go with the flow and never be in rush. Booking in last minute wit COE works for us every time. Many times we manage with little bit of luck to reserve premium sites with unbelievable views like sites 22, 25 and 18 are. Thank you Airport Park and Ashley at the check in window to make our stay very pleasant and stress free. We will be back!💥🍀

The Veterans One Stop held a fishing event here. It is a beautiful spot, nearest restrooms are far away, signage is not clear, another spot near by is similar name. Plenty of parking spaces, huge pavillian.
