This is a nice park. We stayed in our RV and hooked up to electric. There are flushing toilets and showers as well as some pit toilets. We were there during labor day weekend. The park ranger was on top of it. We enjoyed watching all the families with their kids riding around in bikes, scooters and skateboards. By 2pm, the park was empty except for about 3 campers that remained.

We went camping here with out trailer for two nights. The people at the front desk were nice and helpful. I wish they had more full hookups, but at least they have many electricity hookups. Some of the spots are 90 degree back in spots, which ours was, but thankfully it wasn’t busy so I could use other camps for backing in. As for the park, so much to do, hiking, swimming, fishing, playgrounds, rent boat/kayak, bird watching and so much more.

I visited a primitive walk in site here with my best friend ,and we enjoyed the grounds. We originally reserved W4, however W1 proved to be the nicest. It was an easy switch and staff were kind and helpful. There is quite a walk for the walk in sites, in hindsight we should have some sort of wagon. The swimming beach is nice as well as the boat launch area at Agate Lake. I would visit again.

I visited this park solely to walk a couple of trails. Sadly I didn't have time for the Agate Lake Trail, but I was able to complete the Jasper Lake Trail. And I picked up another very short, .3 mile walk between the roadside and Quartz Lake just to view it. Both trails are essentially wide dirt / crushed gravel / mowed grass pathways with the Jasper Lake Trail being through both wooded and open areas surrounding the lake. The day I was there (07/14/25) it was foggy, but I would guess Jasper Lake Trail is about 1/3 shaded and 2/3 open with varied scenery, including interesting wildflowers, bunnies galore, and unknown critter paths between the lake and a cornfield (a large critter big enough to knock down young corn stalks); for birders, it's got to be a delight. Besides bunnies being everywhere, so were park personnel - never saw so many in any of the more than two dozen Missouri state parks I've been to. And all friendly.

🌳🐿️🐝🐰 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Wakonda State Park 📍 32836 State Park Rd, La Grange, MO 63448 ☀️W. A. K. O. N. D. A.☀️ Such a peaceful and stunning destination! Wakonda State Park is a true hidden gem just across the river from Quincy, IL. The forested trails offer a calming escape, perfect for a brisk hike or a gentle stroll. The riverfront areas are serene—great for wildlife viewing and enjoying the quiet sounds of nature. The campground is clean, well-maintained, and feels tucked away in the woods, giving you a real sense of solitude. Whether you’re camping under the stars, paddling on the river, or just taking in the scenery, this park delivers. Highly recommended for a quick weekend retreat or day trip from Quincy!

I really enjoyed my time camping! The camp host was very helpful! We went fishing, birding, kayaking. The other campers were very friendly. The wash house was decent, it was cleaned daily. We will be back

I can't say enough good things about this new area. It's been over a decade since I have been here but there's been tons of improvements period there is free swimming with a shower house no lifeguards however. There is a volleyball net. There's lots of room. There are several trash receptacles. There is a shower to rinse off before you go inside the building to change. Lots of room available some showers available. A nice picnic area as well as shaded shelter house above the shower house. Well marked off area. The beach area was surprisingly very clean and water shoes or an option if you want but isn't necessary. There's no fee to swim. Easy to follow trails with clear paths. Kayak and boat rentals available decent rates even daily rate. Nice kept boat dock. Fishing available and the shelter house by boat dock has an area to clean fish. I will definitely revisiting here again 100%

We stayed in the Wakonda Lake Campground. Sites were well spread out - many with a view of the lake. We had a full hook-up site - # 110 - with a gravel driveway and fairly level concrete parking pad and patio. It had a grill, picnic table and firepit as well as a lantern hook at the site. The campground host was attentive and helpful. We were there during the week, but it was very quiet and very dark at night - perfect for viewing the stars. There are a few hiking trails in the park, but it was too hot or raining when we were there to take advantage of them. Nice park!

I couldn't find much information on staying at this park, but booked it anyway. To my surprise, within this might be our new favorite place. We enjoyed fishing and kayaking. There were plenty of open spaces for more campers this weekend. The camp hosts were very friendly and helpful. The campsites were very spacious and not right on top of each other. We will be back. 😀
