Walters Cove Resort Houpsitas Village Suites

Overview

Walters Cove Resort offers a truly unique experience in the heart of Kyuquot Sound. Located on Walters Island, this resort is owned by the Ka:'yu:'k't'h'/Che:k'tles7et'h' First Nations and provides an authentic window into the rugged beauty of the West Coast. While it is widely known as a premier fishing destination, it also offers peaceful suites that cater to those looking for a quiet escape from the mainland.

Location & Surroundings

Getting to Kyuquot is an adventure in itself. This remote coastal community is accessible only by boat or floatplane, typically via a water taxi from Fair Harbour. Surrounded by towering old-growth cedars and the mist-shrouded peaks of Vancouver Island’s west coast, the resort sits in a sheltered cove. The environment is defined by its wild, untouched landscapes and vibrant marine ecosystem that teems with life.

Amenities & Park Features

The resort features the Houpsitas Village Suites, which provide modern comfort in a wilderness setting. Guests can enjoy the following features:

  • Spacious guest rooms with private bathrooms and comfortable furnishings.
  • A central lodge area for communal dining and social gatherings.
  • High-quality full-service fishing packages with professional guides.

The facility also provides professional fish processing to ensure your catch is ready for the journey home.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw for many visitors is the world-class sport fishing available just minutes from the dock. Anglers regularly target large Chinook salmon and massive Pacific halibut in these nutrient-rich waters. For non-anglers, the area is a paradise for wildlife viewing, where sea otters and whales are common sights. Exploring the nearby Bunsby Islands by kayak offers a close-up view of the hidden beaches and intricate coastline.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for travelers who want to leave the beaten path behind. It is a perfect fit for adventure-seeking couples and dedicated fishing enthusiasts who value a high-quality experience. While you cannot drive your rig directly to the site, it serves as a spectacular off-grid excursion for RVers touring Northern Vancouver Island who are willing to leave their vehicle at Fair Harbour for a few days.

This was my second time at Walters Cove. My friends and I had a blast again! The fishing was fantastic! Thanks to guide, Mike "sparkles," I have a freezer full of chinook, coho, halibut, ling cod and rock fish. The staff is wonderful and the chefs prepare tasty meals. I plan on coming back!

Best experience ever. Limits on everything, bottom fishing is insane. Off shore untouched nests are abundant and the guides are hitting the bullseye. Uncle buck made sure we got our limits. Salmon trolling in sheltered waters has never been so easy. All the staff are like family. The food is five star - chef James and big T hosting is a recipe for success. Thanks to the whole crew, we are booking again for next year - today!!!

My stay at Walter’s Cove was great. Their guides were a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. The fishing was good and the guides packaged all of my fish up into a waxed box so it was easy to take home. The accommodations were comfortable and the food was great. Thanks for a wonderful trip Walter’s Cove, special thanks to Wakeetom and Richie and the Kyuquot Nation for accepting visitors to your beautiful territory!!
