Washington County Fair Park

Overview

Washington County Fair Park offers a straightforward and practical camping experience in the historic river town of Marietta, Ohio. As a fairgrounds-style campground, it provides a functional and spacious environment for travelers looking for a reliable home base while exploring southeastern Ohio. The park maintains a relaxed, open atmosphere that is particularly appealing to those who prefer a no-frills approach to RVing without the congestion often found in commercial resorts. It serves as a vital community hub that welcomes travelers during the camping season.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just north of Marietta's historic downtown district, the park is nestled near the banks of the Muskingum River. The location provides easy access to the scenic beauty of the Ohio River Valley, characterized by rolling hills and lush riverbanks. Travelers will find themselves surrounded by the expansive greenery of the fairgrounds, offering a quiet retreat that remains conveniently close to paved roads, local grocery stores, and essential city services, blending rural charm with urban accessibility.

Amenities & Park Features

The facility focuses on essential services to ensure a comfortable and efficient stay for self-contained units. Most sites feature water and electric hookups, accommodating both 30-amp and 50-amp power requirements for modern rigs. The grounds offer gravel pads that are generally level and easy to navigate, even for larger trailers. While the park maintains a rustic feel, it includes access to a dump station and on-site restroom facilities, providing the core necessities required for a successful multi-day stopover.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Marietta is rich in pioneer history, and visitors are just minutes away from the Campus Martius Museum, which chronicles the earliest days of the Northwest Territory. A short drive leads to the vibrant riverfront, where you can board the Valley Gem Sternwheeler for a narrated tour of the Ohio River. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy the nearby Marietta River Trail for biking and walking, while history buffs can explore the unique ancient earthworks at Mound Cemetery or browse the antique shops on Front Street.

Who This Park Is Best For

This location is ideal for budget-conscious travelers and those attending local festivals, tractor pulls, or livestock shows. It serves as an excellent basecamp for history enthusiasts wanting to explore Ohio's first permanent settlement in depth. Because of its open and spacious layout, it is also a great fit for big-rig owners who prioritize easy maneuvering and a simple setup over the luxury amenities of a high-end RV resort.
