On vacation in Cheboygan and stayed at Waterways Campground outside the city. Smaller, privately owned on Cheboygan waterway with boat launching and nice dock, get glimpses of lots of wildlife. Maintained by husband and wife couple caregivers we had the pleasure of parking next to them in a nice size pull through, full hook up, large picnic table, fire pit, wood sold at office, it was perfect! Such a friendly couple who share the duties and have it down to a fine science. Husband is always busy on his tractor cutting the lawn or doing other chores. Clean bathrooms and showers, nice hot water. Camping sites for tents, swing set for children, mature trees for shade, walking and hiking trails. Across the highway there is a really good restaurant M-33 to try out. Park is not too far from town, Walmart store, hardware, pizza places, KFC, nice historical town. About 25 min drive to Mackinaw City and the Bridge, take a boat ride to Mackinaw Island for the day. We enjoyed our stay at Waterways and will come back next year, Debbie/ Bob Hohn

Very small Campground. Well kept and clean. Met the owner Mark. Bathrooms were clean and plenty of hot water.

We’d been on a road trip around Michigan’s lakeshores and were looking for a place to camp for the night. I called from the road to make sure there were tent sites available since campgrounds in other places had been either sold out or were for rv’s only. The guy on the phone said they had availability so I thanked him and hung up. We arrived maybe 20 mins later to an empty campground. Made our way to the office to check in and the guy came out a few mins later. I tell him that we were looking for a tent site and he immediately accuses me of being short with him on the phone and said he didn’t really appreciate it. He said that I hung up on him and that most people who called would have asked more questions. My friend suggested that maybe my phone cut out since we were on the road and that’s why he didn’t hear me thank him for the info. He just grunted and seemed annoyed. My boyfriend then asked him about fishing in the river that borders the camp ground and he cut him off and seemed snippy towards him. We ended up just leaving and stayed at the state park campground nearby. I would never stay here and give my money to someone who clearly doesn’t care making patrons feel welcome.

My grandson and I stayed for a few days here while we explored the surrounding areas. We had no problems at all!! The bathrooms were always clean, my grandson fished off the docks and pet Mark's dog when he could. We had a great time and enjoyed the quiet! Thanks Mark for letting Harley fish and visit

Quiet park with mostly seasonal campers. The seasonals weren't very welcoming to us. Owners are fabulous. Road noise is an issue early am. The fishing in the river is outstanding. Most just boat and kayak the river. We caught all the walleyes and Perch we wanted. River is unfishable on the weekends due to pontoon boats, during the week we had it to ourselves. Definitely a yearly visit for my crew.

Great campground on the river. Clean restrooms, well spaced lots, close to great bike/walking trails and convenient to the many thing to do and see in the area. Also, there is a great restaurant over looking the river across the road if you don't feel like cooking.

Despite being on a state highway the place is really quiet and peaceful. This campground is no frills, but everything it does have is done right. Sites are a bit on the narrow side, but are level and clean with fire pits and sturdy picnic tables. Mark, the owner, is super nice and goes above and beyond to make our stay comfortable, as do the camp hosts. Everyone is so friendly! Our only real complaint is the low water pressure but even that isn't a big issue, as there is enough pressure for a decent shower. All in all, we're loving it here!

Very nice place to camp! Campgrounds,bathrooms, showers, was very clean all around. Campsite spacious & nice. Visited from Indiana 8/16/2021

We are here for a 5 week stay. So far looks good, well maintained, good utilities. No complaints.
