We're not experienced campers, but we were really pleased with our tent site. Open area for the tent that was flat and backed up to the river, which was lovely to hear at night. The site includes bear boxes, which are large enough to store your food and toiletries. There is a sink to fill up water, but they ask you to do dishes at your own site with a utility sink. Generally quiet, but the road can start to get loud before sunrise as traffic begins to grow. We left a day early due to some heavy rain moving in, but I would recommend to anyone staying in the park.

We have camped here on July 2025, the campground is huge and lots of sites are available. The location is great if you want to explore the Mariposa Grove with giant sequoia trees, glacier point, etc. There is a gas station and grocery store at 5 minutes drive. If you can't find what you're looking at, then there is another store at Wawona village which is just a few miles drive. We booked two sites, campsite 86 is good and able to park 2 cars and toilets nearby. But the campsite 88 is worst and entire campsite is a slope and hard to find a flat ground.

Excellent campground for exploring Yosemite! Obviously it's very close to the sites in Wawona including Chilnualna Falls and the Mariposa Grove and various swimming holes. The river also runs right next the campsite so it's fun to hang out there too. Expect a 45 minute drive to the Valley. Sites can be tough to get so plan in advance. Many but not all sites are unshaded. Some people use RVs and others use tents. There are water faucets plus clean bathrooms with flush toilets! There are no showers however. Each site has a picnic table, bear box, and fire pit with a grilling grate which is super convenient! Loved our trip.

Great location for camping. Around 50minute to Yosemite national parks. It still requires reservations, but it’s located inside the park, so your reservation gives you park access also. Bathrooms were somewhat clean, but one had light and one set of bathrooms without lights. The faucets need one hand to hold them for water to flow, so hard to wash both hands comfortably. Beautiful river closeby with shallow water (at our visit on July 4th). Good area for a short swim if rover is calm. Beautiful short hikes. The camp grounds are clean, not much vegetation close by and quiet flat without any rocks. A group camp grounds place is also available with a private road, but overall all campgrounds are very crammed together, so one person going to restroom from one tent in the middle of the night would wake many up. The camp grounds are also close to the road, makes it harder to sleep closer to 6pm when decent traffic is flowing. Not good place for cell reception, ATT/Tmobile folks had no signal, only Verizon was connected, not sure if that was also reliable. We paid $36for the reservation. For a 4th of July visit, the camp was almost full, but didn’t feel crowded. During the day, most people are out to other Yosemite attractions and are only back for dinner/sleep. Many even left before breakfast.

The campground was fantastic. It definitely helps to choose a site with shade as it gets hot in the day and cold at night and bring plenty of mosquito repellent. Also of note, the bathrooms have nice flush toilets, but no showers. The river is absolutely gorgeous and runs right beside the campground. It's best to take a dip in late afternoon or early evening when the river water is warmest. We camped in late June and it was tolerable to swim later in the day.

Very nice next to a lovely steam. The only downside is that the sites are close together so depending on your neighbor you may struggle with this. We were lucky and it was wonderful.

I haven't been there since the 1970's,my dad used to take me and my 6 brothers there starting in the 1960's and we would always hike down about a half mile to the big rock with the rope swing, I wonder if it's still there? After a week of camping, we would go to magic mountain on the way home to Buena park CA. Great memories ☺️.

Can you have more than 6 people in a campsite?

My favorite place to camp. We come here every year. Much less crowded than the Valley. There's the Wawona Store about a 5 minute drive away, and the Pine Tree Market a few minutes farther. Great hikes all around the area, too. The grounds are clean, lots of trees, and right next to the river. And in the hot summer months, the river is so refreshing. Loops B and C having working flushing toilets, while loop A has porta-potties. The bathrooms are relatively clean, but it depends what kind of campers are there. It's amazing what a human can do to ruin the bathrooms. The staff are also friendly.
