Wekusko Falls Park

Overview

Wekusko Falls Provincial Park is a standout destination in Northern Manitoba, centered around the powerful cascades of the Grass River. This park provides a rugged yet accessible experience for those traveling by RV. Visitors are immediately drawn to the sound of rushing water, where the river drops significantly through a series of dramatic rapids. It serves as a peaceful retreat for travelers exploring the northern reaches of the province while seeking a true connection with nature.

Location & Surroundings

Located just a short drive from the town of Snow Lake, MB, the park sits within the scenic Precambrian Shield. This area is characterized by dense boreal forests, ancient rock formations, and crystal-clear lakes. The park is part of the historic Grass River water route, once utilized by indigenous peoples and early fur traders. The surrounding wilderness offers a sense of isolation and tranquility rarely found in more southern campgrounds, providing a genuine boreal experience.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features nearly 90 campsites, many of which offer electrical hookups that accommodate most RV sizes. While full sewer connections are not available at the individual sites, travelers have access to central water taps and a convenient dump station. The most iconic features of the park are the two suspension bridges that span the falls, providing breathtaking vantage points for visitors. Other functional amenities include a playground, firewood sales, and a boat launch for easy water access.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Anglers flock to this region for the exceptional walleye and northern pike fishing found in the depths of Wekusko Lake. Hikers can explore several nearby trails, including the path leading to the unique Karst Spring where water bubbles directly from the limestone. For a bit of local culture, the nearby town of Snow Lake offers a look into the region's mining history and provides essential services for long-term travelers. Boating and photography are the primary ways to soak in the raw beauty.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for nature lovers and photographers who want to be immersed in the sights and sounds of the northern wild. It is best suited for RVers who prefer a rustic, authentic environment over a highly commercialized resort. If you enjoy backcountry exploration with the comfort of a power-connected site and a well-maintained gravel pad, Wekusko Falls provides the perfect balance for your northern Manitoba road trip itinerary.

I was there late October, the gates were closed, but parking by lodge across the road was still available. In difference with most of #39 Hwy, there was mobile reception. There were no people and the trail, both swinging bridges and the falls themselves were just beautiful! Loved this place.

Was up for a family fishing trip.... Hiked the trails and had a swim! Beautiful spot, a must stop on anyone's itinerary travelling up north.

Great Home, away from home, awesome fishing and beautiful sites. The only issue is the 30 Amp service needs to be 50 amps, but other than that, it's an amazing time while here

If you haven't heard of this incredibly scenic spot and the beautifully lush campground and day area that surround it, then you're in for a treat! While there isn't much for trails or hiking, there are all the amenities a campground should have like showers, privacy, a boat launch, a beach, and even a dog-friendly swimming area! There is also a tenting-only area where you can sleep next to the sounds of the falls. Great vistas from the suspension bridge!

Wow, as if I only found out about this place this year! Definitely a must see if up north. I would argue better than Pisew Falls even, though not as big, but you can get much closer to the falls themselves and can look at them from both the edge down as well as straight on from the suspension bridge (as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong about Pisew).
