Beach and the views!!! Our first trip here and it’s on the top 3 best state parks we’ve been to! Michigan always WINS when it comes to beautiful scenery and cleanliness! So many families and pups! Everyone was super friendly, the staff and hosts were welcoming. Clean bathrooms and showers. Brand new playground. They had a Yooper light tour in the evening! The beach! AMAZING! And it was a huge bonus that we may have booked the best site there. This is site 14

Don and Jen are excellent hosts. Very friendly. The camps are very close to the water and have long beaches to hike. If you have a uv flashlight bring it! You might find a yooperlight.

What a fantastic state park… We had a site right on the water and it was last minute. Beautiful weather, beautiful views,wonderful walking and pot shops nearby as well.

Beautiful campground! We were right on the water and we had a great view of the lake. There was a nice walking trail that went along the lake. There is a really nice playground. Really nice facilities. Very dog friendly, too. Update as of 6.29.25-people get really upset when you ask them not to walk through your campsite. Specifically, site 16 that butts up against the creek. The map shows that there is no trail there and the site goes all the way to the creek. "Tribal knowledge" of this campground says that the site ends at the tree line and the foot path, that is clearly man-made from people walking by the creek to create a shortcut in the loop, is a real trail and we need to shut up and let people cut through there. Not a great way to end what was a wonderful Saturday here.

One of my favorite places to camp especially when a lake side site is available. The grounds are very well kept. Sites are moderately spaced however not much privacy between. Swimming beach is sandy and clean, with a separate beach for dogs. Plenty of beach to walk and hikes to take. Bathrooms/Showers are modern clean and the waters hot!

Great campground! Nice bathrooms, hiking trails and views of the bay of Green Bay. While there are trees, the camp sites feel a little like camping in a field.

Wells is a nice park. Along with what others said... Lots of kids and families having tons of fun... Sites are as I like em. 1/2 sun. 1/2 shade. We happened to choose a lakeside site on the west end. A 4' rubble wall (ice shoves) blocked our view of the lake, but not the cool winds of July! ;) I'd avoid that spot... We walked our lab a couple miles within the park. She swam too! A few boats were here taking advantage of the beautiful launch at Cedar River 1.5 mi away. Park maintenance? 5*

My family and I visited Wells State Park 2 years ago, and we've talked about it ever since. Our experience was AMAZING!!! We trailered our dirt bikes and camping gear and headed that way. First of all, I recommend going on a Wednesday, or Thursday to avoid the weekend crowd, and to get the ultimate site. All the sites are good, but we wanted one with an open-lake-view. When we arrived we set up camp, built a fire, and settled in for the night. It was comfortable, quiet, and the weather was perfect in August (not too hot/not too cold. A nice breeze from the lake) The next day, we went riding on the great trails nearby, and exploring the hiking trails within the campground. There is a beach that we swam and sunbathed at, and horseshoe pits. All around, we loved the experience at Wells State Park. The Lake Michigan views are unmatched. My family and I would all highly recommend this park to everyone. Enjoy!!!!!!
