West Lake (Scott County Park)
Overview
West Lake (Scott County Park) offers a refreshing outdoor retreat just minutes from the urban bustle of the Quad Cities. This expansive natural area is centered around four distinct lakes, providing a scenic backdrop for RVers looking for a blend of water activities and woodland tranquility. As a premier destination in Eastern Iowa, the park functions as a well-maintained haven for those seeking a natural setting without sacrificing modern conveniences like electrical hookups and clean facilities.
Location & Surroundings
Located on the west side of Davenport, Iowa, the park features a landscape of rolling hills and mature forests. Its proximity to the I-80 corridor makes it an extremely convenient stop for travelers crossing the Midwest, yet the dense greenery provides enough insulation to feel miles away from the highway. The surrounding area balances the region's agricultural charm with the diverse cultural and historical offerings found along the nearby Mississippi River valley.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is home to several campgrounds, with the Summit Campground being a popular choice for RVers requiring 50-amp electrical service and water hookups. Residents have access to modern restrooms, hot showers, and strategically placed dump stations. For recreation, the park features a large swimming beach, multiple boat rentals for kayaking or canoeing, and various fishing docks. The well-marked hiking and biking trails allow visitors to explore the lake perimeters and wooded interior at their own pace.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the park borders, the Quad Cities region offers a wealth of exploration. Guests can visit the Figge Art Museum or enjoy a historic riverboat cruise along the Mississippi River. Nature lovers often head to the nearby Nahant Marsh or explore the extensive Riverfront Trail system that connects the local river towns. Families particularly enjoy the Niabi Zoo and the interactive science exhibits found at the Putnam Museum in downtown Davenport.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is a perfect match for active families and fishing enthusiasts who appreciate easy access to the water and onsite recreation. Its peaceful atmosphere also appeals to retirees and solo travelers seeking a quiet evening by a campfire. Because of its location near major interstates, it serves both the leisurely vacationer exploring the heart of Iowa and the cross-country RVer needing a high-quality, reliable place to rest for a night or two.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Love fishing at West Lake Park! Beautiful scenery, clean shoreline, and plenty of great spots to cast a line. The lake is well-stocked, and it’s peaceful whether you’re out early morning or catching the sunset. Great place to bring the family or just relax and enjoy nature. One of my favorite local fishing spots!

Great campground. Very clean and well tended to. Very busy too. I was surprised. The only heads up I would give is that the dump station is on the wrong side when you are leaving the park. It's on the entrance side of the road so make sure you have your long waste tubes with or you will not be a very happy camper. We found out the hard way.

We love the new trails that are built for biking or hiking ! We also enjoy the new camp ground updates too! We wish the campgrounds did not have reserve on everything, but they do and it’s super hard now to get in for camping. It’s best to go and set up and pay for an extra couple days before you actually go. Lakes you can go to the beach and do rentals of paddle boats, fish and it’s a good little get away from the city. Great hosts and explorers and the camp host this year in the summit was absolutely amazing and so good! Hope he comes back next year! From our drone!

Campground was full due to river flooding in the area. Had to change the schedule. Otherwise, the lakes are beautiful near the campground. The sites are little tight and neighbors are a little too caring.

The cabins are always a nice and quiet place to stay with a good view and lots to do. You can conveniently get some firewood ($6 or $7)from the office when you check in, and fire starters($4). The pedal boats were fun and Isaiah from the boat house was very nice and helpful with getting us started on the pedal boats. Reasonably priced at $10 for 30 min, $15 for 1 hour. They also have kayaks but we did not have time for that. The obstacle course on the beach is very fun for the kids and we liked that they have one for smaller kids and one for bigger kids(even 6ft tall teenagers!). Everyone wears a life jacket on there, even teenagers. For the smaller kids when they walk through the height thing they recommended if you are about half way between the blue arrows or lower that you stay on the little kid one and anyone above that can do the bigger one. The sand has a ton of rocks and is not at all comfortable to walk on like normal beach sand. There is a nice picnic area so you can bring your own food or they have concessions. Admission is only $5 for kids and $6 for adults Those things might be on the FAQ on the website if they have one, IDK. But for the most part everyone there assumes you have been there before and they don't really inform you on how it works so hopefully this helps. They have playgrounds throughout the park and some pavilions that you can rent, the one closest to the beach has its own playground, restrooms, fireplace, and grills. They added a sidewalk around the lake by the cabins which makes it much easier to enjoy a relaxing stroll around the lake. There is also a disc golf course which I cannot speak to if it is good or bad because I do not play but it is there.
