West Point Lake - COE/Holiday

Overview

Holiday Park, managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, offers a serene lakeside escape on the sprawling West Point Lake in LaGrange, Georgia. This popular destination is well-regarded for its well-maintained sites and the natural beauty that defines the Chattahoochee River valley. With over 100 campsites tucked into the rolling hills and pine forests, the park provides a peaceful environment where the focus remains on outdoor recreation and the gentle rhythm of life on the water.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just west of downtown LaGrange, the park occupies a prime peninsula that juts into the 25,900-acre reservoir. The surroundings are characterized by dense hardwood forests and miles of shoreline that offer both privacy and shade. Because it sits near the Georgia-Alabama border, visitors enjoy a climate that supports year-round activities. The topography is gently sloped, providing many campers with direct views of the lake through the canopy of trees.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for comfortable RV stays with a variety of practical amenities. Most campsites are equipped with electric and water hookups, accommodating a range of rig sizes from small campers to large motorhomes. Campers have access to well-kept bathhouses with hot showers and laundry facilities, making longer stays more convenient. Key recreational features include:

  • A multi-lane boat ramp for easy lake access
  • Two playgrounds and designated swimming areas
  • Tennis and basketball courts for active guests
  • Multiple dump stations and a gatehouse for security

The sites are generally spacious, featuring gravel pads, picnic tables, and fire rings.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw is West Point Lake, a premier destination for largemouth bass fishing and recreational boating. Guests can spend their days exploring the numerous coves or hiking the scenic trails that wind through the park. A short drive into LaGrange reveals historic treasures like the Hills & Dales Estate or the Biblical History Center. For those seeking more adventure, Callaway Resort & Gardens is located within easy driving distance, offering spectacular floral displays and additional hiking opportunities in a world-class botanical setting.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal choice for families and anglers who prefer a quiet, nature-focused camping experience over a high-traffic commercial resort. It is perfect for RVers who enjoy the simplicity of a federal campground where the scenery takes center stage. Whether you are looking for a basecamp for a fishing tournament or a secluded spot to watch the sunset over the water, Holiday Park provides a rustic yet comfortable atmosphere that appeals to those looking to disconnect and recharge.

It was nice and quiet until the raccoons started going through our stuff the first night. But it was nice. They need more spots to be able to get into the water to swim tho.

We have been coming here for 20 years and camping at all four campgrounds on this lake. The park attendants continue to get more and more rude every year. The lady here today July 3rd at Holiday is the worst. She has been so difficult to deal with both times we have been here. This is our time to relax and unwind and everyone we talk to dreads even pulling up to the gate house depending on who is here. It just shouldn’t be this difficult to check in to a campground. We love it here, but something has to change.

This was surprisingly a quiet lake and campground. Spacious and private sites. Only 2 bath houses in the campground and although clean, needed updating. Definitely camping here again!

First time visiting Holiday campgrounds but not my last. Very well managed campground. Love that we was right on the lake and staff was great.
