Westerner RV Park
Overview
Westerner RV Park serves as a quiet and practical base camp for those exploring the rugged beauty of Southeast Utah. Situated in the heart of Monticello, this family-owned park offers a relaxed atmosphere with shaded sites and personal service. It is known for its high elevation at 7,000 feet, providing a cooler retreat during the intense summer heat typical of the high desert. The park offers a friendly, welcoming vibe that makes visitors feel right at home while exploring the Four Corners region.
Location & Surroundings
Located right on Highway 191, the park provides easy access while remaining remarkably peaceful. Monticello sits at the base of the Abajo Mountains, offering a backdrop of alpine scenery that contrasts beautifully with the nearby red rock canyons. The town itself is small and walkable, allowing travelers to reach local grocery stores and diners within minutes of unhooking their rigs. This unique location allows for both mountain views and high-desert exploration from a single convenient spot.
Amenities & Park Features
The park focuses on essential comforts for long-distance travelers and regional explorers. Guests can enjoy full hookups including 30 and 50-amp electricity, water, and sewer. The property features mature trees that provide rare, cooling shade in the Utah sun, a luxury in this part of the country. Practical amenities include a clean laundry facility, hot showers, and reliable Wi-Fi, making it suitable for both short overnight stays and extended stays for digital nomads or retirees needing a stable home base.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
This location is a strategic gateway to the Needles District of Canyonlands National Park, which offers some of the best hiking and backcountry roads in the state. Visitors are also a short drive from the historic petroglyphs at Newspaper Rock and the vast, protected landscapes of Bears Ears National Monument. For those willing to drive an hour, the iconic arches of Moab and the ancient cliff dwellings of Mesa Verde are easily reachable for a full day of sightseeing and photography.
Who This Park Is Best For
Westerner RV Park is ideal for travelers who prefer a quiet, no-frills environment over a busy resort atmosphere. It is a perfect fit for photography enthusiasts and hikers who want to avoid the heavy crowds of Moab while staying close to world-class trails. Because of its level pull-thru sites, it is also an exceptionally convenient stop for big rigs and heavy trailers navigating the long, scenic stretches of Highway 191 between Arizona and Northern Utah.

This RV park was an easy overnight stop. The transaction was completed online and we had no interaction with staff. It was quiet, and the hookups worked fine. I did not go into the bathroom. I did like the fact that across the street there was a nice Wildlife Park with a handful of trails, and placards with directions! It was a good way to get rid of some excess energy from the drive.

Went to do laundry, 2.washers but only 1 dryer. Took a long time to dry clothes. Weeds was all over , trying to grow grass instead a lot of weeds 5-6 inches tall. Walk to bathroom was not very even and lots of larger rocks. Would not recommend.

This is a small, really beautiful and very quiet RV Park. The sites are very nice with full hockups and nice shade through the trees. The Manager is a nice guy and helps in every situation no matter what it is about. Very clean and warm private sanitary rooms with hot showers and the little laundry with two washers and two dryers are perfect. A grocery store is in the neighborhood too. So all in all it is a good idea too reserve and stop here, also for a few days more than only for a night. Thanks a lot for hosting us. Dennis and Dany
