Westgate Landing Regional Park

Overview

Westgate Landing Regional Park is a hidden gem nestled within the heart of the California Delta. This San Joaquin County park offers a serene escape for travelers who prioritize proximity to the water and a quieter camping experience. Unlike sprawling commercial resorts, this park provides a more intimate setting where the focus remains on the natural beauty of the Mokelumne River. It serves as an excellent base for exploring the rich agricultural and aquatic landscapes of Northern California.

Location & Surroundings

Located just west of Lodi, the park is situated along the scenic Glasscock Slough. The surrounding area is characterized by the vast waterways of the San Joaquin Delta, offering a unique landscape of levees, marshes, and fertile farmland. Visitors will find themselves surrounded by a peaceful atmosphere where the sounds of the river dominate. Its location makes it a convenient stop for those traveling through the Central Valley or looking for a waterfront retreat away from the bustle of city life.

Amenities & Park Features

The park features several functional amenities designed for outdoor lovers who enjoy a more natural setting:

  • Campsites equipped with water and electric hookups for RVs.
  • A multi-lane boat launch providing easy access to the river.
  • A sturdy fishing pier, picnic tables, and individual fire rings.

While the facilities are more rustic and include vault toilets, the immediate access to the river provides endless opportunities for boating and kayaking.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Beyond the park boundaries, the city of Lodi awaits with its world-renowned wine country, famous for old-vine Zinfandels. There are several notable attractions within a short drive of the park:

  • Local tasting rooms and vineyards throughout the Lodi Appellation.
  • The Micke Grove Regional Park which features a zoo and Japanese gardens.
  • Historic downtown Lodi for unique boutique shopping and local dining.

Outdoor enthusiasts will also appreciate the proximity to various Delta channels for world-class bass fishing.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is ideal for boating enthusiasts and anglers who want immediate access to the Delta's intricate canal system. It is also a perfect fit for RVers who prefer a small-scale campground over crowded, high-traffic commercial parks. If you enjoy a rustic feel with the added convenience of electricity and water hookups, Westgate Landing is a great choice. It caters well to those seeking a quiet weekend of fishing or a peaceful home base while touring the local wine region.

Place is decent for fishing. Too bad all the doc is closed off for fixing. You can do bank fishing but not easy and also dangerous to walk on those rocks. Parking is not free.

They need to enforce speed for boaters. We can't fish for shit if the boater purposely comes close to splash us for no reason.

Camp host is a grouchy lazy old lady. That wouldn't open the gate to turn my truck and trailer around in the recreational vehicle turn around. All because she didn't want to walk to the gate she locked a couple hours before. (This is at noon on a sunday) not like the park was closing. Had to jacknife my truck and trailer to get out. She was very unhelpful and extremely rude. Wasted my time and money. All because the camp host sucks
