We spent three nights at Westwood Lake Campground and had a great time! It is a relatively small campground, quiet at night, and has the hook ups needed for RV’s. The largest attraction is how conveniently close the campground is to Westwood Lake! This lake has a sandy beach, a roped off swimming area for the kiddos, some trout to do a little fishing, lots of area to paddle board or kayak, and a 5km trail to hike around the lake. (I road my bike… not that easy with the kids 🤣) Overall, a great place to take the family and have a quality time!

Staff were really helpful, the site was clean, and we had plenty of shade being under mature trees and beside a ravine so the tent and our seating area stayed cool for days when it was super hot everywhere else! Bathrooms were clean. And the location was amazing - right next to a gorgeous lake for swimming and super close to amenities in Nanaimo. We'll be back!

My husband, eldest son and oyr 2 dogs camped there for 2 nights. Was amazed as a last minute booking, we got such an amazing site. Staff was super friendly, bathrooms were clean, very quiet campsite. Was a beautiful spot close to the lake with a nice walking trail for the dogs. Loved e very minute of it.

We called and asked for a last minute RV spot and lucked out, they had one. We booked for three nights originally. After going to comox we decided to come back for 3 more which turned into 5. It’s a well kept place within 5 min. of Westwood lake. It’s a family run business that I will recommend to all of my friends. Thank you Rhonda and Ian for a great stay Malcolm

I rented a cabin for 5 days and it was a wonderful, relaxing stay. The owners are kind and helpful and always available. Only negatives and they are miniscule, spotty wifi and some of the dishes were inaccessible due to my short stature 😊

Ive traveled from Ontario to b.c for the winter while shopping for a class a motor home. Arrived at Westwood campgrounds and chose to stay for 2 nights in my class b. Was happy to have hot showers and laundry and a basic camp site in order to Unwind after a long road trip. I found Sarah / the daughter of the family whom own the park to be an extremely nice.freindly and a knowladgable individual. Nothing but good things to say. Also found the park clean. quiet.and upkept. I would recommend to anyone who asked. Thanx again.

We have never felt so welcomed in a place like we have since we got to westwood lake campgrounds in October. When I came to the campground I was greeted by Rhonda and Sarah both of which were very kind (great customer service) I have since gotten to know them better and my thoughts have not changed a bit! One of the owners Ian was kind enough to walk me through what I needed for set up and even help back in the unit! It helped that is was a really nice sized site as well. Our stay has been great especially being right next to westwood lake which is a family friendly hangout/swim spot or a calm evening trail walk where you can see the moon clear as day. The facilities are spotless and they even plowed the area when we got heavy snow! 10/10 will stay again, Nothing but 5 stars 🌟 This place is on the top of our list. Thanks for letting us be your guests!

Absolutely loving my stay here at Westwood Lake Campground. I really like how you can feel so tucked away in nature, but yet it's so conveniently close to downtown Nanaimo and and all your grocery stores. The lake is only minutes walk away and it's stunning. I jog around the lakes many trails daily and it's so, so refreshing. The owners and staff here are absolutely terrific and extremely kind and accommodating. Overall, it's been a really memorable stay and I can't recommend staying at this campground enough. 5 stars all the way!

Finding a home in turbulent times. On June 1st, 2021, we started our adventure as digital nomads in our travel trailer on Westwood Lake Campgrounds. After arriving at the office, we were welcomed by the owner, Rhonda. She gave us a friendly introduction and then quickly got set up on our site with a full hook up, a fire pit, and a bundle of firewood (right before the fire ban). There is lots to explore at Westwood Lake, located right in front of the campgrounds. Next to the lake, the main trail is connected to an extensive hike/bike trail network that goes all the way to Mt. Benson and beyond; 5-10 min drive in the opposite direction from downtown Nanaimo. I only booked for two nights, and it being peak season, I didn’t expect I could stay any longer. I went to the office, where I was greeted by Rhonda again. We started talking some more, and I found out there maybe was a long-term site coming available! We had an amazing long-term stay at Westwood lake campgrounds in a fantastic location and calming atmosphere. The owners Rhonda and Ian, made our decision to stay easy; Moreover, we found a lifetime friend in their hardworking daughter, Sarah, and are super excited to call this place home for more parts of the year!

We stayed here for two months over the summer and Ian runs this place amazingly. He has always been so kind and friendly. If you’re quiet and respectful of the others, you’ll have an amazing time. He doesn’t have a ton of patience if you’re not. Rightly so. He looks out for the people staying here. He was able to give me a 2 months spot even though no where else would on such short notice. I also loved his daughter Sarah. I will say that if you’re looking for a campground where you can have more privacy, I will say Westwood isn’t the place to do it but the proximity to the lake is hard to beat. I would definitely stay here again as long as Ian and Sarah are working and running it.
