Whiskey Point Cabins and RV Park
Overview
Whiskey Point Cabins and RV Park offers a quintessentially Alaskan experience on the rugged edge of the Kenai Peninsula. Perched on a dramatic bluff overlooking the Cook Inlet, this park provides a rustic yet comfortable home base for travelers exploring the Land of the Midnight Sun. The atmosphere is tranquil and unpretentious, allowing the massive natural landscape to remain the primary focus for visitors seeking a genuine connection with the wilderness. It serves as a peaceful retreat where the sound of the ocean and the cool coastal breeze define the daily pace of life.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in Anchor Point, the westernmost point of the North American highway system, the park boasts panoramic views of the Aleutian Range. On clear days, guests are treated to spectacular sightings of the snow-capped peaks of Mount Redoubt and Mount Iliamna across the water. The park surroundings are characterized by coastal meadows and proximity to the shore, providing a front-row seat to the dramatic Alaskan tides and frequent sightings of bald eagles or moose passing through the native brush.
Amenities & Park Features
The facility caters to both self-contained RVers and those looking for a more traditional cabin stay. Travelers can choose from sites equipped with electric and water hookups or opt for dry camping spots that emphasize the natural terrain. Essential amenities include clean shower facilities and on-site laundry services, which are highly valued by those on long-haul Alaskan road trips. The sites are generally level and gravel-based, designed to accommodate various rig sizes while ensuring that the spectacular water views remain unobstructed for guests.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Fishing enthusiasts will find themselves in a prime location, as the nearby Anchor River is world-renowned for its productive King Salmon and Steelhead runs. A short drive south leads to the town of Homer, famously known as the Halibut Fishing Capital of the World. Here, visitors can explore the iconic Homer Spit, which is lined with unique shops, art galleries, and charter boat excursions. The local area also offers excellent opportunities for beachcombing, photography, and hiking along the scenic coastal trails.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for outdoor enthusiasts and nature photographers who prioritize scenery and silence over resort-style swimming pools or organized activities. It is a perfect fit for independent travelers navigating the Kenai Peninsula who desire a scenic stopover with easy access to world-class angling. If you are looking for a quiet, ocean-view retreat that serves as a gateway to deep-sea adventures and coastal exploration, this park provides the authentic Alaskan backdrop you are searching for.

Traveling south on AK-1 was busy but straightforward, and the campground was easy to access on the right just before Anchor Point. Since we were going to arrive early, we called ahead to see if we could come in at 12:30 PM instead of their 3:00 PM check-in. They said yes, and check-in was a breeze at the small office, which also sold T-shirts, hats, fishing supplies, and a few sundries. We stayed in Site A, a back-in with FHUs (30 AMP). The gravel/sand area in front of Sites A, B, and C was wide enough for easy maneuvering, though because it had been raining we used 4-wheel drive so our 40’ 5th wheel toy hauler wouldn’t leave ruts. The sites were fairly close together, but not uncomfortably so. What made Sites A–C special was the ocean view from the patios. Site C only fit a short rig. Site A, on the end, also bordered a shared common area where guests could gather to enjoy the water views and sunsets from a high hill perch. Utilities were well placed, with water pressure at 35–40 PSI. Verizon service gave us 2 bars of LTE, while T-Mobile was limited to 1 bar roaming. The campground did not have WiFi, but Starlink had a clear shot thanks to the open sky and trees only along the perimeter. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay—especially the ocean view from Site A.

We stayed 5 nites in our RV. If you get a site overlooking the bay, the view and sunsets are beautiful. The water pressure was not reliable. We wished we'd spent only two nites and moved down Homer Spit for several nights. Anchor Point doesn't offer amenities. From the Spit, there are RV parks right on the water where the fishing was jumping during our stay in mid July. Plus, there is lots to do...eat, drink, shop, and excursions. We drove the 40 minute drive several times, sometimes twice a day, to the Spit.

Booked this park based on online reviews. Did not disappoint! This is an amazing RV park with stunning ocean views. Great showers and laundry. Staff is knowledgeable and helpful. If you’re looking for a place close to Homer, but peaceful and quiet, this is it. Bonus: down a bit of a steep road is the beach, which works great for dog walking, looking for treasures or watching the eagles fly.

Beautiful resort overlooking ocean and fabulous view of mountains across the water. Hailee is a very welcoming hostess; she and her husband are owners/operators. Full hookups, good water. Not far from Homer. Nice to be able to retreat from the busy town at the end of the day. Thank you Hailee.

We have stayed two years now in the most beautiful Camper spot ever! Haley is so accommodating and super friendly. This has become our annual Mother's Day weekend trip! We love the views and the access to the beach for surf fishing!
