Whistle Stop Campground

Overview

Whistle Stop Campground offers a vibrant, family-oriented atmosphere in the heart of southern Wisconsin. Known for its extensive recreational offerings, this park serves as a lively hub for travelers looking for more than just a place to park their rig. The facility is designed to provide a resort-style experience where the focus is on creating memories through shared activities and water-based fun in a safe, well-managed environment.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in the charming town of Marshall, Wisconsin, the park is nestled within a scenic rural landscape characterized by rolling hills and local charm. Its strategic location makes it an ideal home base for exploring the state's capital while enjoying a quieter setting. While the park feels tucked away from the hustle of the city, it remains conveniently close to major highways, providing a perfect balance of accessibility and natural beauty for regional travelers.

Amenities & Park Features

The centerpiece of the park is undoubtedly the large swimming pond, which features a popular inflatable water park obstacle course. RVers will find well-maintained full hookup sites that accommodate various rig sizes, including large pull-throughs for big rigs. Essential conveniences are readily available, including clean shower facilities, a laundry room, and a well-stocked camp store. For those seeking active recreation, the playground and sports courts provide endless entertainment options for guests of all ages.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

One of the primary draws for visitors is the park's proximity to Little Amerricka Amusement Park, which is located just a short distance away and features classic vintage rides. Nature enthusiasts can easily access the Glacial Drumlin State Trail for biking and hiking through the countryside. Additionally, the diverse cultural highlights of Madison, including the State Capitol and Olbrich Botanical Gardens, are within a comfortable driving distance, offering numerous day-trip opportunities for campers.

Who This Park Is Best For

This destination is specifically tailored for active families who enjoy a high-energy environment and structured recreation. It is an excellent choice for travelers visiting the Madison area who prefer the amenities of a private RV resort over a more rustic state park experience. If you appreciate a community-focused atmosphere where kids have plenty of room to play, swim, and explore, this park fits your travel style perfectly.

Hey all!! Anyone that enjoys camping, please check out the Whistle Stop Campground in Marshall Wisconsin. Right next to Little Amerika!! Fun for the kids, fun for the adults and the amusement park is closed at night. They have Camper sites and beautiful cabins to rent. You won’t be disappointed. Beach, pond, inflatables. Clean bath/shower houses, clean, beautiful cabins. The property is well taken care of and owned but some great folks now that take pride in their campsite. Please consider them for your local getaway destination!! Under new owners and they have really changed the attitude of the campground. It’s clean, very well taken care of. Run well by some great folks. Again, you won’t be disappointed!!

Excellent customer service! We were able to book campsites on the same day over the phone. She allowed us to pick out a site and we chose the one closest to the bathroom. The park is connected to an amusement park. There are nice trails to walk the dogs and the pond to see wildlife. The only negative would be the lots are in the full sun. Shady trees would be nice. Also the lots were not paved.

This campground exceeded all expectations — truly one of the best we’ve ever stayed at! From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by how clean and well-maintained everything was. The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and clearly takes pride in keeping the place welcoming and organized. The swimming pond was a huge hit with our family. It’s beautifully maintained, and the sandy beach was spotless — perfect for relaxing while the kids splashed around. There are also so many fun, affordable (and even free!) activities for the kids: from donut decorating and ice cream socials, to water balloon fights, relay races, and even a dunk tank! The Gaga ball pit and other games kept them busy and having a blast the whole time. The bathroom/shower house — super clean, with great water pressure and plenty of hot water. It really makes a difference when you’re camping to have a clean and comfortable place to freshen up. And of course, we can’t forget the train ride to Little Amerricka! It was such a fun and unique bonus — both riding the train and just watching it go by brought smiles to everyone's faces. Overall, this campground is a fantastic family destination. Clean, safe, fun, and full of thoughtful touches. We’ll definitely be back again — and recommending it to all our friends!

Nice family-friendly campground, plenty for kids to do. There is a little train that goes to Little Amerricka from the campground. They also have activities and a pond. Convenient getaway for adults as well. There are some wineries and a distillery nearby. We did the 9pm train-ride, everyone had lights, it was fun! Will go back!

Where to begin? What an AMAZING campground. Also it’s under new ownership - Dana who was absolutely wonderful. The camp ground is very clean, very well maintained. Plenty to do if you want to stay. They have a train that connects to a small amusement park (little Amerika)and it’s a wonderful experience!! They offer pizza and delivered. Fire wood is delivered as well if needed. The gift shop was very nice, ice cream inside. At an additional cost the train will ride at 9pm on Sat evening, you need something that glows or lights up it’s really cool to take a ride at night through the trails and the kids loved it. It was by far one of the best vacations I’ve ever had. I’ve been to the Caribbean many times, Disney. This was an amazing trip I can’t wait to come Back. All of the other staff were extremely nice as well they went out of their way to make the kids happy. I gotta say this was a great experience. Thank you so much Dana and best of luck with the most success possible. You are off to a great start!!!
