White Lake
Overview
White Lake Provincial Park is a serene destination located in the heart of the Canadian Shield. Set along the shores of its namesake lake, it provides a quintessential Northern Ontario experience. Whether you are traveling the Trans-Canada Highway or seeking a secluded retreat, this park offers a mix of wilderness charm and modern convenience. It serves as a vital stop for RVers exploring the vast landscapes between Sault Ste. Marie and Thunder Bay.
Location & Surroundings
Situated approximately 35 kilometers west of the town of White River, ON, the park is nestled within a dense boreal forest. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged rock outcrops and pristine water. Its position on White Lake—one of the largest lakes along this stretch of the highway—ensures that visitors are never far from breathtaking sunsets and a true sense of northern isolation, yet still accessible from the main travel corridor.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for RVers, featuring three distinct campgrounds. Many sites offer electrical hookups suitable for various rig sizes. Visitors have access to clean comfort stations providing hot showers and laundry facilities, which are essential for long-haul travelers. For those bringing boats, the park includes a reliable boat launch and a dedicated fish cleaning station, catering to the active fishing community that frequents these northern waters regularly.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Outdoor recreation is the primary draw here. The lake is famous for its Walleye and Northern Pike fishing, making it a premier spot for anglers. On land, the Deer Lake Trail offers a scenic hike through marshes and forests. Just a short drive away is the town of White River, famous as the original home of the bear that inspired Winnie-the-Pooh, offering a bit of local history for families and history buffs exploring the region.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is an ideal match for outdoor enthusiasts and anglers looking for a productive day on the water. It also appeals to families who appreciate quiet beaches and educational hiking trails. Because of its location on Highway 17, it is a perfect multi-day stopover for cross-country RV travelers who want a high-quality provincial park experience without deviating too far from their primary route through Ontario.

As nearly 40 year veterans of fly-in fishing trips, we booked Bulldozer with expectations of a very average experience, but it didn't take long for us to figure out we were wrong. We LOVED it. The depth (20 ft or less) was right in our wheelhouse. We like to fish shallower lakes so we can use lighter jigs. We are also more interested in numbers than in catching lunkers so again, Bulldozer fit the bill. We caught 180 fish (mostly walleye) in the four days that we were there. We saw a lot of interesting wildlife and it was enjoyable just to explore the lake—so many interesting areas and features and we still didn’t get to all of them! The cabin remodeling was top-notch and very guest-friendly. The indoor bathroom really added convenience and comfort. Everything was very clean and functional. We loved the wrap-around deck for sitting outside, but our favorite upgrade to the cabin itself was the three sliding glass doors affording incredible views and opportunities for a cross breeze on warmer days. All of these things exceeded our expectations, but the one thing that REALLY set Bulldozer apart was the small, shaded deck directly on the water. We spent time every morning, afternoon, and evening just sitting and sipping coffee (or a beer) and enjoying the sights and sounds of nature. Having the deck under the trees really made it accessible even when it was fully sunny out. It was definitely our favorite place to be during our time at Bulldozer. The boats, motors, and gear you provided were all in good condition and well-suited for the size of the lake. Of course, everyone who worked to make our experience positive and memorable from the office staff to the guys loading our gear to the pilot (and the base camp dogs!) was professional, courteous, and knowledgeable. Thanks for providing such great places for people to get away from it all; we are looking forward to a return trip soon!

Our fly-in trip with White River Air to Pinei Lake was absolutely incredible. The Maclachlan family are amazing hosts — their communication was excellent from start to finish, making everything smooth and stress-free. The cabins were spotless, comfortable, and had all the necessities you could need for a great outpost experience. Combine that with great brook trout fishing on Pinei Lake, made for a trip we’ll never forget. Couldn’t recommend White River Air enough — we’re already looking forward to the next adventure!

My family has used White River Air for over 25 years. They are definitely the best fly-in fishing outfitters. Staff is always nice and welcoming. Fishing is always exceptional. Recent updates to the cabins make it even better with indoor plumbing and toilets at most of the cabins.

The past two years we have fished with White River Air and have had an amazing trip both times! The fishing has been unbelievable, the cabins are awesome, and are getting updated every year! Dan and Brandy will make you feel right at home from the time you fly-in till the time you leave! If you’re looking to book your first fly-in fishing trip I can promise that you will have a trip full of memories that will last a life time. And some pretty unbelievable pictures and story’s to share with friends and family when you get home! Here are some of our photos from the last couple years! You can also find a video of both of our trips on YouTube on the Reel Fishing MI page!
