Overview

Whitetail Bluff Camp & Resort offers a vibrant camping experience perched atop the scenic ridges of Southwestern Wisconsin. Known for its community-focused atmosphere, this destination combines the rugged beauty of the Driftless Area with modern resort comforts. The layout is designed to encourage social interaction while maintaining the peaceful character of the Wisconsin countryside.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just outside the historic village of Cassville, Wisconsin, the resort is defined by its elevated bluff-top position. This location provides travelers with refreshing breezes and expansive views of the surrounding timberland. The area is characterized by its dramatic limestone cliffs and deep valleys, offering a distinct departure from the flat prairies found elsewhere in the Midwest. Being in close proximity to the Mississippi River, the park serves as a perfect base camp for those looking to explore the Great River Road and the unique ecosystems of the river’s backwaters.

Amenities & Park Features

The resort is packed with features designed to keep every member of the family entertained. The grounds are meticulously maintained to provide a balance of recreation and relaxation. Key facilities include:

  • A heated swimming pool featuring a rock waterfall and a splash pad for children.
  • A full-service bar and grill that provides a convenient social hub and dining option on-site.
  • Spacious RV sites equipped with electric and water hookups to accommodate modern rigs.

In addition to these highlights, visitors have access to a game room, a large playground, and courts for basketball and volleyball, ensuring there is never a dull moment during your stay.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Exploration beyond the park boundaries is highly rewarding in this corner of Grant County. A short drive leads to Nelson Dewey State Park, where visitors can enjoy hiking trails and spectacular overlooks of the river. History enthusiasts will appreciate the Stonefield Historic Site, which showcases Wisconsin’s agricultural heritage through a recreated 1900s village. For a unique local experience, the Cassville Ferry offers a scenic transit across the Mississippi River to Iowa. Fishing and boating are also popular pursuits, with multiple public boat launches located nearby.

Who This Park Is Best For

This resort is an ideal match for family travelers who prioritize on-site activities and a social environment. It is a place where kids can roam safely between the pool and the playground while adults gather at the grill. Because of its extensive amenities and organized events, it is particularly well-suited for group camping trips and multi-generational reunions. If you prefer a resort-style experience with plenty of neighborly interaction over a secluded or primitive site, Whitetail Bluff will likely fit your travel style perfectly.

Probably the best private campground we've been to (and we've been to a bunch). Lots of seasonal sites but they're neat and tidy well maintained. LOTS to do for the kids! Pay no attention to negative reviews that are older than a few years. The ownership changed and the new owners, Andrea and Brad are great and have made a lot of improvements. Highly recommended!

– A Perfect Family Getaway! We had such a great time at Whitetail Bluff Camp and Resort in Cassville, WI! From the moment we arrived, we felt welcomed and right at home. The amenities are top-notch—clean bathrooms and showers, well-kept grounds, and a great mix of spots for RVs and tents. What really stood out to us was how family-friendly the entire resort is. There were tons of activities for the kids—from the playgrounds to planned events and wide open spaces for them to run around. It’s clear the resort was designed with families in mind. The views of the bluff are beautiful, and we loved sitting around the campfire at night under the stars. Whether you’re camping for a weekend or planning a longer stay, Whitetail Bluff offers a peaceful, fun, and well-organized escape for all ages. We’ll definitely be back! Thank you Brad & Andrea!

If you're not here as a seasonal/permanent site camper then it might not be for you. Weekender sites are very close to each other and a bit tight for backing into. The sites that backup to each other have firepits that are about 10' apart. We were fortunate enough to have our neighbors behind us not out having fires as they were visiting friends at a different site. But a few sites away we saw two different groups around their firepits with some people pretty much sitting back to back at their own fires. Not ideal by any means. Sewer hookups at a lot of the sites are way too elevated off of the ground. Our site had it's drain tube almost 2' above the ground and was impossible for any water to drain into it. Golf carts buzzing around constantly. Constantly... Kids had a good time in the pond and pool, but besides that we most likely won't be back for reasons listed above.

We stayed in our RV that’s why room is 5 stars. Location is a little hard to drive to, small tortuous road. Road inside campground is a little confusing and not well designed. They were short staffed when we arrived, the lady who checked us in, didn’t quite know how but she’s new to the job. Seem to have more permanent sites than travelers like us. Has restaurant which food was decent. Swimming pool was clean and has obstacle course in a pond with blue color dyed water. Downside was it’s loud at night, karaoke and drunk people driving golf cart at midnight. Those permanent campsite seems to be very comfortable as they were at home, talking loudly with bad language during the day. No free WIFI and cellular signal is not good. The price is not cheap $147 for 2 nights

We have been at Whitetail Bluff as a permanent for 5 years. We have new owners, Brad and Andrea, and they have done so much upgrading and made it into a great resort. We have a pool, pickel ball court, pond and playground for the kids. A pavilion that we have live bands and karaoke. We have a fantastic clubhouse with awesome food and drinks. Our manager, Lyndsay, is the best and she takes care of all the problems at the campground when owners aren’t there. Our maintenance staff keeps the campground well maintained. We also have a great cook and bartenders to take care of our every need. This place has something for everyone and will not disappoint.
