It is amazing we stumbled on this and it was great, I would go back again if I ever go back. So much to see, you really need a good day to see it. I did not know that Mount Scott was closed until noon to vehicles but it was worth the wait.

honestly so beautiful, worth the drive and more!! the best wildlife spot in Oklahoma! tons of bison, long horns, prairie dogs, its almost guaranteed that you see se sort of wildlife. so many hiking trails and just things to see/do not in your usual Oklahoma

This is my favorite place to hike. My friends and I regularly drive in from Texas to go day hiking here because the views are stunning! There are so many trails to choose from, and each trail has it's own beautiful picturesque rewards. You won't have cell service so make sure you stop at the Visitor Center first for all the information you need. Speaking of, the Vistor Center is also amazing! The bathrooms are always clean. The people are always friendly, and it has an awesome little museum to give you an idea of the beauty and wildlife you may encounter while on your hike. This place is amazing, and has quickly become a piece of my heart. I would highly recommend it to anyone who needs to get away from hustle and chaos of life.

An amazing place! Bring the kids! See the Buffalo, Elk, Prairie Dogs, and fireflies! A great place to hike and camp! It is really close to DFW. Near the location of the Star House and the legend of Quannah Parker’s house.

We had a great time here. We were only able to spend a few hours. The Mt Scott road was locked up even though the sign said it should be open according to the time we were there. I plan to do a lot more exploring there soon.

I photographed an elopement at Wichita Wildlife Refuge this July and it is such a great spot with amazing views for an intimate elopement! It is worth keeping in mind that ceremonies need to happen only in reserved areas which are either the boulder cabin picnic area or the holy city! It is a great spot for those who want views + as much or as little hiking as you prefer!

So many trails to explore. Visit the Holy City & climb the Heart Rock . The view was amazing from the heart rock . Forgot the name of the waterfall but that was fun to climb up and see it. Buffaloes were hardly out when we went . Seen about 2 roam freely. Bring plenty of water during the hot days & no cell phone service most of the time . Try to catch a lizard 😆good luck

It was beautiful. So cool to see a buffalo and Prairie dogs! Beautiful. The top of the mountain was worth the view. We tried to hike a trail but it was just to hot. We plan on going back in the fall.

Fantastic place, with nearly 40,000 acres of land general open to the public, including an officially designated wilderness area at the west end. Because you have a mix of ecotones — the mountains do rise 1,000 feet or more above the prairie floor, the mixed-grass prairie fading into shortgrass and more, you get a variety of flora and fauna.

We came to hike and chose the Elk Mountain Trail. The weather was in the upper 70’s and still very warm so be sure to take lots of water and be mindful of your dog due to the heat and rocky terrain. Beautiful area that really captures the wildness of early Oklahoma. Be aware of your surroundings. Snakes and wildlife can make unexpected appearances. The visitor center is a must. Interactive exhibits, clean bathrooms, gift shop, and helpful staff. Be sure you download maps and have a trail map with you. Lot of game trails and not an area you want to be lost on a hot day. Mt. Scott nearby should be on your itinerary. Highly recommend a visit. With investment, this has the ability to be National Park.
