Wickham Park
Overview
Wickham Park is a sprawling 391-acre regional park in Melbourne, Florida, that offers a unique blend of natural beauty and urban accessibility. As one of Brevard County’s most popular outdoor destinations, the park provides a wooded retreat for travelers looking to enjoy the Sunshine State’s diverse ecosystem. The campground is known for its expansive pine forests and open green spaces, making it a refreshing change of pace from traditional roadside RV resorts. Whether you are visiting for a weekend festival or a long-term winter stay, the park's tranquil environment creates a welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
Location & Surroundings
Situated in the heart of Melbourne, the park sits just minutes away from the Atlantic coastline and the Indian River Lagoon. Its central location means RVers are never far from essential shopping, dining, and medical services. Despite being surrounded by a bustling city, the interior of the park feels remarkably secluded. The grounds are characterized by scenic nature trails and shimmering lakes, offering a peaceful buffer from the traffic of Parkway Drive. It serves as an ideal basecamp for exploring Florida’s Space Coast while maintaining easy access to local conveniences.
Amenities & Park Features
The campground features 133 sites, most of which offer water and electric hookups to accommodate various rig sizes. Visitors have access to essential facilities:
- Clean restrooms and hot shower facilities
- On-site laundry stations and dump stations
- Spacious disc golf course and fishing lakes
- Extensive multi-use hiking and biking trails
Beyond the campsite, the park is a hub for recreation. For those traveling with animals, the on-site dog park provides plenty of space for exercise. The park also hosts community events at its large amphitheater, adding a cultural element to your stay.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Travelers will find plenty to do within a short drive of the park. The Brevard Zoo is a major highlight nearby, offering unique kayak tours and animal encounters. Beach lovers can reach the sandy shores of the Atlantic in about fifteen minutes, providing perfect opportunities for surfing or sunning. Art enthusiasts should explore the Eau Gallie Arts District, which features vibrant murals and local galleries. For a longer day trip, the Kennedy Space Center is located just to the north, making this park an excellent spot for space enthusiasts.
Who This Park Is Best For
Wickham Park is a perfect fit for nature-loving families and active retirees who enjoy having outdoor recreation right at their doorstep. Because of its extensive trail system and playgrounds, it is a top choice for those traveling with children or pets. It also appeals to budget-conscious travelers who prefer the rustic charm of a county park over a high-priced commercial resort. If you value a community-oriented environment with plenty of space to breathe while remaining close to Florida’s famous beaches, this Melbourne destination is an excellent choice.

It's a very beautiful place with a lot of different areas it's got beautiful wildlife and the scenery is unmatched. The staff is all very kind and knowledgeable we had no trouble setting up our reservations for the wedding that we're going to have there. Sometimes you're able to catch people riding their horses and even sometimes they'll let you pet them I mean they're Majestic animals and I wouldn't want to go anywhere else for the special time that I'm going to be married there. All together I'm very very satisfied with the business end and I'm very thankful for all the beauty that's there in the landscape as well as the layout

The Wickham Park that we stayed in had lots of biting ants and plenty of midsize ants that infested our trailer. Otherwise it was a decent campground. I’d give it a six out of 10. The Hook ups in loop B, site 97 O.D. were weird; they were between trailers so if you really pulled over close enough to hook up to the sewer, you’d only be a few feet from the neighbors trailer and the rest of your site was huge. So we did not hook up to sewer while we were there just so we could keep better spacing. The sites were a mix of gravel and grass, not level. We did have 50 amps, 55 psi water and a sewer connection.

Best place for a birthday party! The Rangers are so nice and helpful. Very clean and peaceful. Even had water slides and a bounce house from Home Run Jumps.

Great park with loads of both open spaces and wooded areas. Large pavilion that hold many different types of events. Two disc golf courses. The one in the main park sometimes gets taken over by events, but there’s another wooded nine hole course to play. Equestrian area, amphitheater, volleyball, horseshoe courts and small pavilions in the picnic areas. There’s also a dog park and great mountain bike trails.
