This is a beautiful lake with a reputation for great fishing! The campgrounds are well designed and have two unisex bathrooms each. One bathroom has a shower. Each site has a grill and a picnic table with a cover. Outer side of the loop campsites have lake views. There are 3 cabins for rent. The Ranger Station is open 8 am to 10 am with a well stocked gift shop full of items that might have been forgotten. Madison King is a Ranger Biologist that was very helpful with his knowledge of the park! There is a loop trail that is 1 mile and another .7 mile gravel trail. No hiking trails are close to the park so you better enjoy the water. So far, fishing has been good, Brown trout and Tiger trout

Wild horse State Reservoir is gorgeous! The Wildhorse Peak that towers over the lake is so spectacular! This is a fisherman's paradise! No fish story here! People were catching their limit daily and I saw trout the was at least 2Ft! They have a fish cleaning station too! So clean! The campsite 29 is amazing. There is plenty of room between the sites. During our stay the other campers were quiet and considerate. The showers and bathrooms have been renovated. They are beyond clean. Everyone that works at the park is so polite and helpful. The gift shop/store is stocked with cool local fare and other artifacts from the area. Be sure to stop by during your visit. I enjoyed chatting with Ranger King. He gave us info on the area and booked us in a great spot. This place is a great destination, especially if you like to fish! It's also a great place to stop for a night or two on your way to somewhere else

Nice campsites by a reservoir popular with fisher folk. Lots of wildlife--pelicans, antelope, ground squirrels. When there's a hatch of midges, you'll see swarms. They're harmless.

A nice drive about an hour from Elko. Large reservoir with excellent trout fishing. It was hunting season so my neighbors were dressing a deer they killed. The clean showers were wonderful with full bathrooms and lots of hot water. A small gift shop/museum well stocked from essentials to Indian jewelry available. Ranger was friendly and informative. For Labor Day weekend there were still camp sites available. Most are pretty level and primitive. Three cabins are available, too, by reservation.

We stayed here twice this year. Once in Spring and once in Summer. Can not say enough about the wonderful staff! The ranger Josh was a joy to talk to and always ready to answer all questions. Stacy was also very helpful and kept the bathroom/showers and fish table tip top. Really appreciated all her help. Speaking of bathrooms/showers they were spotless. They looked to be remodeled and were the nicest I've seen traveling for a year and a half full-time on the road. Drive in on the road was smooth, dump in good condition, garbage well kept and good water available. Any size rig can get in there. The fishing in the spring was fantastic. WOW Summer a bit slower but kayaking was great. Met many campers out there and everyone very nice. We had no loud partiers at night. It really is one of our favorite spots. We did do a ride across the road on East Gold Creek Rd. Stunning. Didn't make it to Jarbidge though. Also went up Jack Creek Road. Saw a lone female moose. Do so wish they had full hook-ups. Only one site has hook-ups. We did get that one site in the Spring. It was first come first serve but I believe by October 1st 2023 all NV State parks are going to a reservation system. Bummer. We always love first come first serve. So it doesn't turn into a big "no show" park with campers. Lovely place, Lovely staff..... we hope to visit again in 2024

This was one of the nicest camp grounds I have stayed in, very clean. The park itself was great. Showers where very clean and well cared for. I stayed in this campground as a kid almost 30years ago, and it certainly has changed, for the better. I'm giving it 5 stars. The park ranger was very arrogant, and flat out rude, he needs to learn some people skills, and realize his badge is not a right to be rude. The other part I didn't understand was getting charged for a complete camp site when my stepdads season pass covered the site, but beings my truck was out of state vehicle, I had to pay full price for camping, not just the out of state vehicle fee. I feel we got double charged for the space. That was a Nv state parks thing that I didn't agree with, but again the camp ground was so nice I gave 5 stars.

Wild horse state park is a great place ! New bathrooms and showers and really nice RV spots. Only one spot has hookups and we were lucky enough to get it for $10 dollars more a day. Our spot was not numbered the sign said "hook-ups ". Just beautiful out there and a nice state park. Bring your supplies the little store near the park sells beer ,ice and just a few things.
