Plenty of hiking trails. There weren't a lot of people camping this weekend so it was very quiet. The campsites are decently spaced, but could use more electric sites. Very clean.

I go to horse camps. It is vital for people who *do not* have horses to camp in people camp, so equestrians have the space available that is designated for us. If you are hiking on horse trails & encounter horses, please be sure to say hello with a bit of small talk so horses know you are human. Please lower backpacks, fishing poles to your feet or side. Please keep walking sticks still & do not wave your ball cap. Dogs not accustomed to horses are intimidated and their behavior often unpredictable. Please ensure your dog is entirely under your control. Runners need to slow to a walk as soon as you see horses and until you pass. Please say hello. Wild River has a nice horse camp with electric sites. Day riders park in middle. Trails are natural surface with some areas laid with rock. There are bears in this area. Educate yourself about black bears.

Loved the short hike near the river and saw so many dear from the moment I pulled into the park (around 3 pm) walking along side a doe and her three young fawns and while leaving the park around 5 pm. Not too crowded, dog friendly. Bike path, picnic area, and super clean bathroom.

Another great state park that feels very remote and tucked away. Located near the river with lots of information about the logging that took place. Areas to hike, bike, RV camp, tent camp, horse camp, ski, and rent a cabin to camp. There are paved and unpaved trails, clearly marked areas of interest, and lots of environments to explore - Prairie, riverside, deciduous forest. Lots of wildlife and very quiet because it's away from the road.

This is one of my favorite state parks in Minnesota. We have been here in both the winter and summer and both seasons are great to hike at this park. Our recent visit, we brought our camper and had one of the largest spots (70E) I've ever camped at. Campground was extremely quiet and there are a lot of camper and tent sites. Bathroom wasn't too far away which was great cause their dump/fill area was closed due to a water leak. Thankfully, we didn't really need water that weekend and there was drinking water right next to our site. There are lots of deer here in the fall so watch our when driving! They also have a really nice flat bike path the goes straight from the campground to the visitor center (great views here). I would recommend going to the nevers dam overlook. It's a short walk and really fun and right next to the river.

Wild River was a very nice park. We stayed at the Guest House for the weekend and it was very nice and cozy. The fireplace was warm and there was a good stock of wood outside. We saw a few deer hanging around outside, but they never asked to come in despite the cold and snow. They could have just walked in and stayed in the downstairs gear storage area if they had wanted. There would have been plenty of room in the spacious and open basement. We did some hiking on the trail by the river and spotted a colony of trumpeter swans having a dip in an open area of the frozen St. Croix! Their loud trumpets echoed across the river and were very impressive! I wanted to blat out a couple notes to see if they would come over for a chat, but decided against disrupting their bath. It would be fun to come back when it is warmer!

Beautiful and quiet. Rarely crowded. I highly recommend the river trails. Gorgeous scenery.

Beautiful park! We lived our stay. Just a word of warning...site 71 , even though nice and long, it has trees and the electrical panel that make it very narrow. If you have slide outs on both sides of you rig it might be tight.

This campground is sure secluded. The dirt road to the campground had a large downed tree completely covering the road 0.3 miles from the entrance to the park. We had to take a detour to get in. The park itself is easy to get lost in and was quite empty in the E loop, where we camped at site 93. It was actually really spooky. It would have been better to stay at one of the loops by the restrooms since they were more populated. However, despite all this, I made my first campfire by myself and we enjoyed s’mores. After putting out the fire, we turned in for the night. A few minutes after entering our tent, we heard footsteps and sniffing very close to us. The animal investigated our fire pit and tent area and was not spooked by my partner hitting the side of the tent. We kept quite when it was by our tent but found it extremely hard to sleep after it left.

Wild River State Park was incredibly beautiful and peaceful! The hiking trails were loaded with beauty, from prairie to river-side views to hilly forests and meadows full of wildflowers – it was a seasoned-hiker's dream. We also saw lots of wildlife. We will definitely be visiting again!
