We've camped at Wild West several times and always enjoy it. If you want a party place, this isn't for you. However, if you want peace, quiet, good neighbors, and a good campfire come here. What I love: Free hot showers, Friday fish fry in the lodge, generous firewood deliveries, peace and quiet, owners on-site, large level sites, horses that love carrots, and lots of adventures close by (a pottery shop, a glass making shop - with classes, the chain-o-lakes, and horse rides on-site). Call outs: Not a loud party place (although families and fun are encouraged), no golf carts or ATV's allowed, no bar, no pool or pond (although there is a playground and VB court and Hartmann Creek's Beach is close by), the store mostly has souvenirs, soda, carrots, and ice cream, so it won't have your last minute "I forgot" kinds of things. That being said, they very first time we camped, our power cord was too short to reach the box (nice, big sites). Jay offered to loan us an extension cord or change sites. He has since redone most of the sites so the power boxes, water, and sewer are all within easy reach. If you are thinking about camping for a weekend and trying it out, I would encourage you to do it. There are lots of pull-through sites, shaded sites, sunny sites, any kind of site you like. Not sure what is what? Given them a call! Hope to see you soon!

The first thing was we booked sites 3&4 as it's posted on the website because our friends were staying in a rental camper and we wanted to be close to them, unfortunately the sites changed, when we got there there was sites 1 &2 which weren't on the map, so we were two sites down from our friends, that was a bit inconvenient. As it shows on the map I think 1&2 should have been our sites but we didnt say anything much. 2nd our friends rental camper was full of Asian beetles and the fridge was filthy, luckily our friends are prepared and cleaned the camper before putting anything in it, there was an outside kitchen but it was not accessible, they came and locked it, so just an FYI if you rent a camper there do not expect to use all features. I do have to say Jay was a huge help with our slideout issues and that was greatly appreciated and if we had said something more about the sites being different it may have been resolved, everyone was kind. The trail ride was amazing! Our trail guide was great! And the horses were great one was a bit sassy but gave us a fun story and we learned horses are so much like people as far as personalities lol. All in all we had a good time, it was a bit inconvenient for our group meals not being close to each other, we made it work. The horses were my favorite. Also be aware if you don't have a bathroom in your camper the shower house is a bit of a walk.the campground is very quiet. Suggestions: update the campground map on line.

A Peaceful and Welcoming Retreat! We absolutely loved our stay at Wild West Campground and Corral. The atmosphere was incredibly peaceful and welcoming, and the entire campground was beautiful and very well maintained. The staff was Welcoming âeveryone was great and super helpful. All the other campers made you feel like you were there every day neighbor. We really appreciated that they delivered firewood right to our site, which was such a nice and convenient detail! It was nice that all the horses and other animals were friendly and well taken care of. We also saw that they run a great horse camp for girls. The campers always looked like they were having a blast with fun activities. I would totally recommend this campground and camp to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway!

We had our family reunion camping trip there this July 2025. We had 12 sites, approx.46 people including children. We had ages 2-92 and we all had a great time. One of the larger sites we used as a main cooking and gathering site. Some little ones had the walk along horse rides which they talked about forever (still are), a few adults enjoyed the trail ride, while others checked out some of the areas parks, swimming areas, shops and golf course. The kids enjoyed feeding carrots to the horses. For many it was their first time being up close to a horse. Peaceful campground and a safe campground for little ones to ride their bikes without parents worrying about traffic. Very nice playground equipment for the little ones, too. We had an extremely hot weekend, so we planned ahead (since no pool on campground) and had water guns and hose with a sprinkler for kids. The bathrooms & showers (free) were clean and plenty of hot water. All made for a great family camping weekend. The owners & ladies working with horses were all very nice, helpful & enjoyable. We also liked the idea that we had sewer hookup for such a reasonable cost per campsite. If you like a peaceful, quiet campground give Wild, Wild West Campground a try.

CLEARLY NEED TO READ REVIEWS BEFORE BOOKING ANYWHERE: booked Easter weekend 2022 THE OWNER JAY!!! IS RUDE AND ARROGANT!! 1. Playground is shameful super outdated 2. No game room 3. No walking trails 4. Nothing to do for kids Anyone from Wisconsin- or those camping in Wisconsin. BEAWARE OF WILDWEST CAMP GROUND. This last weekend we were supposed to camp at Wildwest Camp Ground and Corral in Amherst. We decided to call and see if we could swamp campsite for a cabin. He said yes however he sounded annoyed due to not having the cabins cleaned. I asked about coming later and he said no noon. CHeck in is still fine, they arenât busy. We received an email stating we wouldnât have water due to the weather. We also called and he told us our site number and that we are as close as we can get to the bathhouse for going to the bathroom. Once we arrived he stated âgood thing itâs cleaned I thought you said 1:00pm. I did explain he indicated check in time was ok with noon.â okay no argument there his main building was freezing as I aspected to walk into something warm. He also made the comment âWhere do you expect to go to the bathroom?â I was puzzled as we talked about the bathhouse, I was under the impression our site didnât have water.â He told me no, there is no water, but we could use the restroom in the main hall, he would have an outside door for us to use.â okay no big deal just now showers for the weekend. Then we checked in ordered fire wood then found out we couldnât have a fire due to the weather (wind) okay? So why let me purchase wood. We didnât ride horses as we planned due to weather and having a 3 year old. Website also states WiFi throughout camp ground WiFi didnât work either. So after our time of improvising because thatâs what we do. We all used the restroom at 7:30pm, talked to the owner and he advised 9-10pm he closes up shop. I had asked, then later that night/morning at 2:30am I had to go to the bathroom I walked down and it was locked. I thought maybe someone was in there but no. My daughter (17) attempted earlier at midnight but assumed someone was in there (for the record is was her time of the month) bathroom is crucial. I had to drive us to Kwik trip we attempted to use the restroom until the following morning until 10:00am everything was still closed we packed up and left. Also I want to add he âcleanedâ the cabin but found a sock in the bed from someone prior a comb in the other bed. Dead lady bugs everywhere, whatever not a big deal but donât go into detail how much of a pain it was to clean the cabin when you didnât clean it. Maybe itâs different in the summer but unfortunately I donât think we will be back đ

No mounting block so be prepared to heave yourself into the saddle. I have not mounted from the ground in years but I managed it somehow. This is the first trail ride I've been on in ages where no helmet was offered so you might want to bring your own if that is important to you. Guides were friendly and paying attention, trails were nice and we lucked out with a beautiful day. Horses seemed well cared for and were cooperative.

Our daughter has attended the horse camp here the last 4 years. She always has a great time, home cooked meals and raves about how great the staff are. She usually comes home exhausted from having non stop fun. In addition to spending great time with some amazing horses, they also get to do other typical camp experiences which is great! I would highly recommend!
