Best waterside in 3 states, the rv areas are very clean and neat, would definitely recommend to anyone passing through the area, remember to bring your water hose though

We had a non-utility tent camp site for 3 nights and it was a great experience! Highly recommend especially for groups with children. The bathrooms were outstanding :) The kids really enjoyed riding bikes around the campsite and exploring. The pancake breakfast was also well worth the money. Having the general store was helpful for additional ice, firewood and any of sundries you may have forgotten. Would recommend for sure and would visit again in the future!

Overall an unpleasant experience— My rating is mostly due to the poor interactions I had with the horse stable personnel. You can tell a lot about a business by the way they interact with customers. Good businesses are sympathetic and reasonable, putting customer experience first. Due to technical issues, I did not receive confirmation of my reservation or instructions. I arrived much prior to my appointment time, however they had already left without me. I spoke to stable manager Isaac Baugher, who was very unprofessional and not willing to produce a refund despite the circumstances. They admitted they routinely leave much prior to the agreed upon time. Finally I got in touch with the resort manager Nick Hanson who processed the refund, without apology. How many customers in the past have been left prior to their appointment time, while Winding River pocketed the money? I would guess this has resulted in many thousands of dollars. The only way I got my money back is by figuring out how to contact the resort manager. The campground itself was okay although quite overpriced. Nickel and dime is the standard here with any additional activities, services, or items you would want or need while staying.

We planned a family camping trip at winding River resort. We stayed in site number 41. It was nice and large and not super ride up close to other campers. The hook up for our pop-up camper was perfect. We had lots of moose visitors, which was fun. The restrooms and showers went way beyond our expectations. They are some of the cleanest bathrooms I have ever been in, and the showers were amazing. Every staff person we encountered was very helpful and friendly, and they did a good job, ensuring that people divided by the rules, which was nice. We did end up, needing to purchase a few things in the general store, and found the prices to be cheaper than most other comparable places. We also booked a trail ride and had a great time with that as well. The cabins looked really nice, and we may try that for future. This is a perfect place for either individual families or large groups, and lots to do either at the resort or in grand Lake or Rocky Mountain national park. We loved that there was the little farm, even though our kids are older, and also free wagon rides, and a pancake breakfast once a week. We will definitely be coming back.

The campground is very cute, bathrooms very very clean. However, we had a horrible experience when we stayed in July if 2021. We booked and had a late check-in due to our flight being later in the day. We called when we booked to confirm we could have a late check-in. Then we confirmed this a week prior, and finally confirmed one more time THE DAY BEFORE. Each time we were assured the door to our cabin would be unlocked. (We would find our name attached to a map of the campground with our cabin # listed on a board). We arrived at midnight, exhausted and with a crabby 9 month old baby in tow, only to discover - the door was NOT unlocked. There is no staff OR security on-site at midnight. Not a soul. We called everyone we could think of. We drove around trying to find another place to stay, but it was so late and high season, so nothing was open or available. At 3 am we gave up. I slept on the porch of the cabin while my husband kept the car running so the baby wouldn’t freeze. It was miserable and we hardly slept. When I talked to an employee the next morning we got a half-hearted “sorry”, and a refund just for that night (we paid full price for the rest of our stay). If I’m honest I really expected a lot more since they quite literally forced us, with a small baby, out into the cold. But I was too tired to argue. I don’t know what else to say except that it’s clear that this place is a bit disorganized. Makes me wonder where else they are cutting corners and creating safety hazards. It could have been a real bad situation - what if we didn’t have gas to keep the car running and keep the baby warm? What if a storm rolled in? It’s just dangerous and there’s no reason they can’t invest in a key lock-box like any other campground. We won’t be back.

The staff was amazing, during our stay we had truck issues and they accommodated us and offered any help needed we ended up staying a week longer until our truck was taken care of. Isaac our horse back guide was amazing, Chris who is a RV mechanic who was staying there and working for the resort stopped to offer assistance as well and to all the other employees you were awesome. Will most definitely recommend and will come and visit again!!!! 5 stars with out a doubt. Winding river resort is the best place we have stayed so far..

Best camping spot in Grand Lake! We have stayed here around 20 times in the last few years and always love our time spent here. There is everything you could possibly need just steps away. Clean/beautiful showers/restrooms, close to town, petting zoo and playgrounds for the kids, and the people that work here are the best part! Everyone is so accommodating and kind! We love winding river! So much so that we got engaged here and now spend our anniversary here as a way to get away from busy day to day life. Thank you to everyone at Winding River Rv Resort for always making our stay special and memorable!!

We just completed a great 2 night stay at Winding River Resort in our Sprinter van. It was a perfect location, only minutes away from the town of Grand Lake and it had a beautiful setting with some excellent amenities. The bathrooms were the best of any property we have stayed at in terms of cleanliness, appearance and lots of hooks for belongings in the shower. The store was well stocked and the stables to arrange horseback rides was adjacent to the campsites and absolutely the most well-cared for horses and cleanest stable I have ever seen. Best of all, there are rules for maintaining a quiet and peaceful stay, which we really appreciated.. We very much enjoyed staying there and would give it the highest possible marks for a well-run campground.

We just had a great weekend at Winding River. We originally had booked a spot at this campground right as the fire hit. The resort was generous in giving us a refund for needing to cancel. It must have been an extremely scary time for many, many people in the Grand Lake area. But most of what burned was trees, but also a few structures. We stayed in site #119 which is the grid of full-hookup RV spots. It was unbelievably calm and quiet. We enjoyed some easy, beautiful mountain hikes (East Inlet/Adams Falls and Monarch Lake). Also we ate lunch at the Grand Lake Lodge with good food and scenic views. One afternoon we noticed a baby moose heading down to the pasture just outside the RV area. This gave us just what we needed - a happy, quiet, peaceful weekend in the mountains. Thanks to all the great folks at Winding River!
