Windmill Resort

Overview

Located on the California side of the Colorado River, Windmill Resort offers a serene escape for travelers exploring the Lower Colorado River Valley. This park provides a well-maintained environment where visitors can enjoy both the stark beauty of the desert and the refreshing nature of the water. It serves as a comfortable home base for seasonal residents and short-term explorers looking to experience the unique border region between California and Arizona.

Location & Surroundings

The resort is situated in Earp, California, just across the river from Parker, Arizona. This location places guests in the heart of the Parker Strip, a famous stretch of water known for recreational activities. The surrounding landscape is characterized by dramatic rock formations and expansive desert vistas. Its proximity to the river ensures that the climate remains slightly more temperate than deeper desert regions, making it a pleasant destination throughout the cooler months.

Amenities & Park Features

Windmill Resort is designed with convenience in mind, offering spacious sites that accommodate various RV sizes. The facility focuses on providing a functional and community-focused experience for all guests. Key features of the park include:

  • Full hookup connections including water, sewer, and electricity for modern rigs.
  • Private boat launch and docks providing easy and immediate river access.
  • Clean laundry facilities and well-maintained community restrooms.

For those traveling with pets, the fenced dog run provides a safe space for four-legged companions to exercise and enjoy the outdoors.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Adventure seekers will find plenty to do just minutes from the park. A short drive leads to the historic Parker Dam, which created the scenic Lake Havasu further north. Golf enthusiasts can visit the nearby Emerald Canyon Golf Course, often cited for its challenging desert layout. The area is also a gateway to extensive off-roading trails, allowing visitors to explore the rugged backcountry of the Mojave Desert. Fishing and boating remain the primary draws for many staying at the resort.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an ideal match for active retirees and snowbirds who appreciate a quiet, community-oriented atmosphere during the winter. It is also a top choice for water sports enthusiasts who want easy access to boat ramps and docks without the crowds of larger commercial marinas. If you prefer a laid-back river lifestyle with a focus on outdoor recreation and desert exploration, Windmill Resort provides the perfect setting for your next California RV trip.

Awesome food specials. Drinks we're reasonable and Bar tenders are awesome. Definitely recommend.

Cabin #2. Uncomfortable, cobwebs, no closets or dresser, tiny, stinky, airfreshner caused asthma attack. Microwave on top of full size fridge coffee pot on top of that. Couldn't reach that high. Old rundown. No blankets or toiletries. Inconvenient outlets. I wouldn't call this a resort. I call it an old trailer park. Couldn't contact management after 4pm. They wouldn't return our calls and when they finally came in the office, the wouldn't refund our money and was very ornery. I wouldn't stay in this dump again.

Our cabin (#1) smelled horribly and the room temp never got below 85°. The AC unit dies not function correctly and leaked water on the floor. We had to leave our first night because of the dirty conditions and we were not provided a refund. We will be sending our pics and videos in to the state.

I visit many riverside resorts due to my occupation. This place is kept pretty well. Quiet. Nice scenery. Great parking/access too.
