I ❤️ bluegrass. There's nothing quite like it. Campground night is my favorite and Thursdays.

What I did like was it was free to get in, the 4H was nice. The animal exhibits were also well kept and clean. They had craft vendors inside by the stadium and honestly that is where I would get any drinks and food way cheaper inside than outside with the other vendors. What I did not like was the vendors way overpriced their items, the wait for a cheeseburger was over 45mins and for the price absolutely not worth it. Also did not like the way some of the patrons acted and dressed. I would not take my children there with all the swearing and the disrespectful teens that were acting up. I ran into a few that you could tell were completely under the influence of some hard drugs. I did not feel safe being there with the way some of the people were acting. I've been to many fairs and this was disappointing the way things were run. I would have liked to seen a curfew for the younger kids if they didn't have adults present to have to leave. It has worked for many fairs across the country and it helps keep the trouble makers out and overall it is a more positive family experience.

The leash laws are not enforced at all, Animal Control position is a waste of taxpayer dollars. Anywhere from Pitbulls, German Shepherds, Rottweilers, to poodles, people let run loose. People out here doing 50 mph in the camping areas, doing donuts, etc.

Every 30 mins to an hour, there is a train that goes by right next to the campground whailing their horn. The trains are loud even in their motel. Who would pay to camp here? Also, very little privacy with how nosey the people who live here are.

We were there for the Walnut Valley Festival. It's what you'd expect in a fairground. It was clean and easy to get around. Buildings were adequate.

The fairgrounds: fun during the Cowley County Fair, sure, but a lot more goes on down there. Winfield is famous for our Walnut Valley Festival known, as the "blue grass festival" to locals. That happens in Sept. In October we have a terrifying haunted house in one of the barns. In August Habitat for Humanity has a big one day sale/fundraiser. Throughout the year you might find flea markets and auctions. Be sure to drive by the horse barn and the beautiful clydesdales if they are outside.
