Winslow Memorial Park
Overview
Winslow Memorial Park offers a coastal escape on a quiet peninsula overlooking the scenic waters of Casco Bay. Owned and operated by the Town of Freeport, this park balances a peaceful natural environment with proximity to one of Maine's most famous shopping districts. It serves as a premier destination for travelers who want to experience the rugged beauty of the rocky coastline while remaining close to modern conveniences and regional attractions.
Location & Surroundings
Situated on a scenic point between the Harraseeket River and Casco Bay, the park provides sweeping views of the water and numerous small islands. The landscape features a blend of open grassy fields and thickly wooded sections, providing a sense of seclusion despite being just a short drive from the bustling town center. The tidal nature of the bay ensures the scenery changes beautifully throughout the day as the waterline shifts.
Amenities & Park Features
The facility includes over 100 campsites, many of which are well-suited for RVs seeking a rustic experience. While the park maintains a natural feel, it provides essential comforts including a seasonal snack bar and accessible bathhouses with showers. Recreation is central to the experience, featuring a tidal swimming beach, a boat launch for motorized vessels or kayaks, and several miles of trails that weave through the property for birdwatching and exercise.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Just a few miles away is the famous L.L. Bean Flagship Store, located in the heart of downtown Freeport alongside dozens of high-end outlet shops. Nature enthusiasts can also head to Wolfe's Neck Woods State Park for more extensive hiking along the shoreline. For a classic Maine experience, local seafood shacks nearby offer fresh lobster and fried clams, making it easy to enjoy the local culture just minutes from your campsite.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for nature lovers and families who prefer a traditional, quiet camping experience over a crowded commercial resort. Because the park emphasizes a low-impact, scenic atmosphere, it is perfect for self-contained RVers who value ocean breezes and sunset views over luxury amenities. It is an excellent choice for those looking to combine a coastal retreat with a convenient mid-coast Maine shopping excursion.

Beautiful place for a walk and pictures. Also there is a park for kids. I am glad that I planned to stop here on the way to Acadia National Park. There was ample parking space on a Saturday afternoon and there was no fee as well. There is sign for swimming at users own risk and no kayaking. Dogs are allowed here but need to be on a leash. I would definitely recommend this place.

Beautiful campground situated on a peninsula. Great playground and great walking trails. Stayed on aite 77. Easy access from I-295. Would definitely stay again.

Lovely campground with tons of wildlife. The trails were nice, and we appreciated that the showers didn't take quarters.

We enjoyed this campground. Showed up in the afternoon without reservations and still got a spot on the water. The staff was very friendly. We would camp here again when in the area.

Loved camping here. Only problem was the showers are not really warm. They tried working on it but still water was only luke warm. Cold for early season camping 🏕 Lots of nice people camp here, polite, friendly and respectful. Lots of locals too. Easy online reservations. Beach is clean. Love dogs but appreciate them not being allowed on the beach 👍 As a senior they offer free admission for day use. Beautiful walking trails and early morning sunrises etc.
