Wright Patman Dam & Lake

Well Doggies
Interesting Lake on the Sulphur River in Northeast Texas. Was set to originally be built in Arkansas near above Mercer Lake, but Rep. Wright Patman of Texas used his influence to have the US Army Corps of Engineers build the lake at this location. Great location for fishing, boating, camping, birding, hunting, hiking, picnicking, and just setting back and relaxing. Several boat launches on North and South side of lake. Several parks located around the lake. Hookups for campers available.

This is a big, big lake. Did I say big, it's massive. Big cats are the best here. Bass, crappie, drum, paddle fish, and I've heard even trout. Bring a boat and a GPS. It's a big lake with plenty of room. You won't have to fight for fishing spots here. No marina and no pollution. A very nice lake for a pontoon or big cruiser.

Absolutely beautiful place! We were visiting Texarkana and just visited out of curiosity. This place is just outside the town a quick 20 min drive. The road that take you to the parking lot is on the top of the lake and it narrow but gives an amazing view of the lake. The road ends in a parking space which give stunning views of the lake and is best for Sunsets.
