As far as campgrounds located within town, this place can't be beat. Clean facilities, well maintained landscape, quiet. There is some road noise, but its pretty minimal and didn't disturb anyone in my group.

Nice state park in Yakima that provides access to many great breweries, wineries, and hiking. I recommend Yakima Public House East for a beer or glass of wine. (eh on their food). FHU for the site I was in (#15 PT) but the pads are very narrow. (maybe 10' but seemed more like 8') Many of them had tree roots that have begun to alter the asphalt but not so bad you couldn't get level. The wind does blow in Yakima, so any trees overhead will provide a cacophony of nightly music on your RV. Most of the PT sites have dried grass and debris that will infiltrate your camper unless you have a doormat or rug. All sound negative but just setting the bar low so it will be more impressive for the next camper. It was a nice stop and would stay again. Recommendations for food and drink. Crafted, Gilbert Cellars, Bale Breaker, and Triveri Cellars (Sparkling)

Yakima has so many beautiful hikes, it is definitely a wonderful place to visit for an extended weekend. My favorite tends to be the trail that runs along the river, but it connects with Yakima Sportsman State Park too. Make sure you bring plenty of water and some good walking shoes!

DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU HAVE LARGER THAN 35’ RV! Low hanging branches caught my a/c, scratched the sides. No room to maneuver. There was no map and the park has no directions. Then I find out there is no water - this is a full hookup site. They never said a word until I was in the site. If you are a tent camper or have a small trailer it is a maybe. Be aware there are no showers and no toilet paper. No grass - all dead. Would never come back. I would have left if there was any other option.

Beautiful campground with full hook ups. Lots of grass and shade due to the sprinkler system. George was very friendly when we arrived. Must check in before dark. Nice trails around the park. We did come across a "homless" camper with lots of bikes near his tent. He was friendly, there are notices to lock up bikes.

It is the end of the year, so naturally it was empty of most "Sportsman". But the park was kept up, there was no trash lingering, or scattered about. The trees looked healthy and settling I for their winter nap. The signs were readable and in good condition. I have a photo , but it did not take the picture correctly due to phone malfunctions.

I enjoyed the park but we came at a somewhat unfortunate time. With the wildfires going on nearby they had closed all the park trails. So that meant we couldn't access the river or other ponds for swimming or fishing. It limited what we could do at the park. So we explored other towns and just used the campgrounds for sleeping. We stayed in my dad's Trailer. The park had pull through sites with water, electricity and sewer hook ups. The site was well kept and shady, but they were pretty close to each other so it didn't have as much privacy as I would have liked. It looked like the back in spaces were farther apart so that might be the option we take next time. It was my dad, myself and my partner and our two dogs so it was enough space for us. What we could explore if the park was well maintained and beautiful. I'll have to try again another year.

Sites are nice. Large and most have shade. No water to play in at all. Swings for kids. Well kept bathrooms and grounds. Ranger in office was crabby but others have been very polite. Not much to do except picnic and camp. Felt safe.

Wonderful park for everyone. Here one can walk play and ride his or her bikes. This sportsman state park is a nice place for camping and it has all the facilities like a restroom and drinking water. For camping purposes, it's a great choice and if you want to take a shower then you have to pay a quarter for three minutes of the bath. Full of nature beauty.

Small amount of people and lots of shade, makes for a good labor day weekend picnic experience.
