Overview
Yoakum County Park offers a peaceful and well-maintained retreat in the heart of the West Texas plains. Located in Denver City, this county-managed facility is widely recognized among RVers as a welcoming oasis for travelers crossing the vast landscape. The park is known for its quiet atmosphere and lush greenery, providing a surprising level of comfort for a public facility. It serves as an excellent example of Texas hospitality, providing full-service accommodations for visitors exploring the Permian Basin region.
Location & Surroundings
The park is situated on the outskirts of Denver City, a community deeply rooted in the regional oil industry. The surrounding landscape is characterized by the flat, open horizons typical of the High Plains, yet the park itself is filled with mature shade trees that provide a necessary break from the Texas sun. Its proximity to the New Mexico border makes it a convenient waypoint for those traveling between Lubbock and southeastern New Mexico destinations. The environment is serene and spacious, offering a sense of seclusion while remaining close to local conveniences.
Amenities & Park Features
Travelers will find modern conveniences that rival many private parks. The sites feature concrete level pads equipped with full hookups, including 30 and 50-amp electrical service. On-site facilities include clean restrooms, showers, and a large playground area for families. For those who enjoy staying active, the park offers paved walking paths and is adjacent to a local pro-style golf course, allowing visitors to enjoy a round of golf just steps from their rig. The park also features:
- Spacious picnic areas with tables
- Manicured green spaces for pets
- Reliable water and sewer connections
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
While the park is a destination for relaxation, there are several local interests to explore. Golf enthusiasts can spend the afternoon at the Yoakum County Golf Course, which is highly regarded for its layout and maintenance. History buffs can visit local landmarks to learn about the area's ranching and oil heritage. Nature lovers often enjoy bird watching in the park’s wooded areas, which attract various species rare to the surrounding arid plains. The town center of Denver City offers local dining and small-town charm just a short drive away.
Who This Park Is Best For
This park is ideal for budget-conscious road trippers looking for a safe, clean, and quiet place to rest for a few nights. It is particularly well-suited for retirees and full-time RVers who appreciate a slower pace and the convenience of full hookups in a park-like setting. Because of its excellent playground and open spaces, it is also a family-friendly stopover for those moving through West Texas. If you prefer a friendly, community-oriented atmosphere over a high-traffic commercial resort, this park is a perfect fit.

Six spots for rvs with electrical hookups. Fairly level. Big area for dumping station, can easily pull a towed around it. Near a pond. Lovely park. It was a quiet night.

One of the best free camping sites I’ve been to. Clean, friendly, and the ducks came to visit me each day. There are 6 total spots with electricity hook ups. All free for 3 days.

Stayed overnight, very quiet park next to a golf course. Occasional golf cart noise in the daytime. 6 hookups on 3 poles. (2 hookups each pole) Water is in the ground, but I was unable to access any of them due to being covered in dirt and debris or needing a key to turn on the faucet. Didn't use the dump station, so I am unsure of the location or condition.

Mario greeted me, let me know we could stay 3 days for free, Including hookups. Also that it was very dog friendly. Staying an extra day just to catch up on cooking and relaxing.

Beautiful park even in the winter! Our kids (and dog) loved watching the ducks and the two geese. There is a playground in good condition and you can’t beat a free spot to park your RV! When you enter from 214 going north from Denver City, you then right into the park and the RV spots are straight ahead on the left side of the road in a straight line next to a building. There are water and electricity at your spot, but the dump station is around the corner in the park. Lots of picnic tables and beautiful trees to enjoy! We had a wind storm and called Allsup’s and the manager was so kind to allow us to park our RV behind the store for a wind break while we waited for the storm to die down.
