Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds RV Park
Overview
The Yuba-Sutter Fairgrounds RV Park offers a practical and straightforward stay in the heart of Yuba City, California. Primarily known for hosting the annual fair and various community events, the facility provides a reliable home base for travelers exploring the expansive Sacramento Valley. It is characterized by its wide-open layout and functional design, making it an excellent choice for those who prioritize convenience and accessibility over secluded forest settings. The atmosphere is bustling during major event weekends but remains a quiet, convenient spot during the off-season for passing travelers.
Location & Surroundings
Located just off Garden Highway, the park sits within a vibrant urban environment while remaining surprisingly close to the natural beauty of Northern California. The surrounding area features the iconic Sutter Buttes, often referred to as the world’s smallest mountain range, which provides a unique backdrop to the flat valley floor. Guests are within walking distance of local restaurants and grocery shops, ensuring that essential services and local flavors are always within reach during their stay in the Yuba-Sutter region.
Amenities & Park Features
This facility provides essential services designed to accommodate modern rigs of various sizes, including large coaches. Most sites feature full hookups including water, sewer, and both 30 and 50-amp electrical service, which is a major draw for long-term travelers. The park is designed with a level surface consisting of asphalt and gravel, ensuring stability for larger motorhomes. Additionally, the park is pet-friendly, allowing travelers to bring their companions along while they enjoy the spacious and secure grounds of the fairgrounds complex.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Beyond the fairgrounds, visitors can explore the scenic Yuba River, which offers opportunities for fishing and walking along the riverside trails. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate a short drive to the Gray Lodge Wildlife Area for world-class birdwatching and seasonal photography. For those interested in local culture, the historic downtown district offers unique architecture and local boutiques, while the nearby Sutter Buttes provide challenging hiking trails and breathtaking panoramic views of the northern Sacramento Valley for those who venture just outside the city limits.
Who This Park Is Best For
This location is ideal for travelers attending local events or festivals hosted at the fairgrounds throughout the year. It also serves as a perfect stopover for those on long-distance road trips through California who need a secure, well-equipped place to rest. Because of its spacious layout, it is particularly well-suited for big-rig owners who find smaller, more wooded campgrounds difficult to navigate. It is a practical choice for functional travelers seeking proximity to city amenities and regional transit routes rather than a rustic resort experience.

Lots of great childhood memories of 4-H, fairs, and rodeos. Saw Roy Clark perform. The fairgrounds serves us in so many ways, now for vaccination distribution.

My son attends preschool here in the off season of the county fair and currently some of the campfire victims from paradise are living in motor homes on the far end of the property. It's also a charter school in the off season. Scenery is still very nice for a stroll.
