Zeiner Campground
Overview
Zeiner Campground offers a serene escape within the expansive Pigeon Lake Provincial Park. Known for its lush greenery and well-spaced sites, this destination provides a classic Alberta camping experience. Unlike some of the busier park sections, Zeiner maintains a quieter, more natural atmosphere where the sound of the wind through the poplars takes center stage. It serves as an ideal base for those looking to reconnect with the outdoors while remaining close to modern conveniences.
Location & Surroundings
Located on the northwestern shores of Pigeon Lake near Mulhurst, AB, the campground is nestled within a beautiful mixedwood forest. The surrounding terrain is characterized by rolling hills and dense stands of aspen and spruce trees, providing excellent privacy and shade for RVers. The proximity to the water ensures that cooling lake breezes are a frequent feature of the summer months, creating a comfortable microclimate for outdoor living.
Amenities & Park Features
The park is well-equipped for RV travelers, featuring several loops with power hookups to accommodate various rig sizes. Visitors have access to several essential facilities:
- Clean vault toilets and water hand pumps located throughout the campground loops.
- A convenient RV dump station near the main entrance for easy waste management.
- Individual sites featuring heavy-duty fire pits and sturdy picnic tables for outdoor dining.
Nearby Attractions & Things to Do
Water enthusiasts will find plenty to do, as Pigeon Lake is a popular spot for powerboating, kayaking, and fishing for walleye. For those who prefer land-based activities, the park features a network of hiking and biking trails that wind through the forest. A short drive away, the Village at Pigeon Lake offers boutique shopping, spa services, and local dining, providing a nice contrast to the rustic campsite environment.
Who This Park Is Best For
Zeiner Campground is a top choice for family campers and nature photographers who value a quiet, forested setting over a high-traffic resort vibe. It is particularly well-suited for RVers who enjoy a traditional provincial park experience where the focus is on campfire cooking and lakeside exploration. If you are looking for a peaceful retreat with reliable basic utilities and direct access to one of Alberta's most popular lakes, this is an excellent fit.

A peaceful local campground, with amneties and washrooms for a nice and quiet weekend near the lake. Campground offers hard and soft ground for rv and tent, picnic shelters, bbq spots, and access to clean beach, boat launch and rafting area.

Weekends are very busy, and there were 2 separate groups blasting karaoke at 8am in the morning, very inconsiderate. However the campground itself was great, the female shower washroom was very clean. Can't say the same for the outhouse. Overall great campground.

I made a big mistake when booking the campsite. I was supposed to book at Pigeon Lake Campground, but when I checked in, I found out that I had booked at Zeiner. There’s no privacy, the lake is disgusting, and only two shower rooms are working while the other two are out of order- and it’s peak season.

Stayed in the "A" loops. Sites were well kept. Lots of trees and bushes between Sites to have some privacy. Outhouse were pretty clean. The free shower was a tremendous after a day on the beach. Had to walk through about a foot of seaweed/algae before getting in the water, but otherwise nice. Little store where you check in had awesome staff. Can buy wood here as well.

Love this place! My first time camping there and I will definitely go again! Washroom was clean and nice for shower. Easy access to the beach and love the outside shower too!
