We rented the cabin that sleeps 8. The cabin is laid out okay, there is no way you could get eight people in this cabin. There were two of us and it was just enough room for us. The cabin definitely needs an update. There is a small table with four bar stools to eat at, but we could not use it because falling apart. The dirt, dust, and filth inside the cabinet was a huge turn off. The toilet, sink, shower, refrigerator, and microwave where wiped down but everything else was filthy. The dust and grime in every corner and on top of every flat surface above the cabinets, around the tv, in the window sills, and on other flat surfaces was terrible. The window shade in the kitchen window is filthy. The exhaust fan above the stove is full of years of grime, grease, and dead bugs. It does not look like the paneling on the walls has been wiped down since the 80's. The walls around the sink in the bathroom are full of grime and toothpaste splatter. Multiple cabinet doors and the drawers are broken and falling apart. The screen door at the entry is falling off. Many of the windows do not have screens in them. The main bed is as hard as a rock. You are unable to adjust the temperature in the main part of the cabin above 65 degrees because the thermostat is locked. There was a half a roll of toilet paper, one bag in each of the two trash cans, and a few ounces of dish soap on the sink. There were no other supplies inside the cabin, or information on how to get more of these supplies, so I'm glad I brought my own. This cabin would be great if they updated it and cleaned it. The campground is in a great area and they seem to take care of the grounds very well except for the area where the permanent campers have set up... this area of the campground is very run down. It doesn't appear they have to follow any rules and it looks like an old trailer park with crap laying everywhere. Very trashy. My sister's camped in the very back of the campground in there RVs, everything seemed to be fine there except the Internet in the back part of the campground was terrible. The customer service was amazing. Very nice people who were helpful and accommodating.

We stayed at Basswood Resort for their Halloween weekend and had an absolutely amazing time! This was our first visit, and we were blown away by how much there was to do for all ages. From arts and crafts to the glow parade and the flashlight lollipop hunt, there was never a dull moment! The playground was spotless and such a hit with the kids. We also enjoyed some great fishing and loved ending the evening watching a movie at the outdoor theater under the stars — such a magical touch! The campground is beautifully maintained, with clean bathrooms and well-kept sites that made our stay even more comfortable. The store and pizza shop also have so much to choose from! Every staff member we met was warm, friendly, and went out of their way to help. Special shoutout to Pat for being so kind and helpful! We can’t recommend Basswood Resort enough for families looking for a fun, relaxing getaway — and the fact that it’s pet-friendly is a huge bonus! We’ll definitely be back!

This was our first time here. We had a great time! There were lots of activities for the family. The playground area was clean and the kids had a lot of fun. Fishing was great, we caught and released about 12 perch and 2 bass. The site is clean, bathrooms were clean and spacious. Everyone that works here is so friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this location for anyone needing a weekend (or longer) getaway!!

I spent the last year at Basswood Resort as a full time RV'er. I've been camping since I was a kid and have never seen a campground pour so much of their heart into creating a fun place to live. There are so many activities for both kids and parents to participate in on a regular basis. The park is kept clean and is well maintained. The country store is well stocked and offers delivery service pizzas. I would still be there if the Mountains weren't calling my name. I had great neighbors and I miss the staff who were always around to lend a hand if needed.

The cabins were nice and Have everything you need. We booked several and were spread out. Rent a golf cart. Lots of lakes to fish in. The kids brought bikes and scooters. The staff were super friendly. Lots of amenities. The weekend themes were a blast and there was so much for them to do to keep busy. We will definitely be back! General store has lots of merchandise, Ice cream, and fabulous food options.

We did not have a good experience at all. We are not new to camping and have stayed at tons of campgrounds around the US. We are well rehearsed with normal stays. Unfortunately, we did not get to attend any of their events as they did not start at the time listed online or the sheet they gave us upon check in except the last event which started way early. We were the furthest spot away from activities and up a STEEP hill which they did not inform us of. This is not an accessible campground and there are very steep hills with loose rock. The tent sites are not close to anything and are incredibly hard to walk to from the activities or front desk as they are on the complete opposite side of the campground down hills. Myself and one of my children had trouble navigating these hills and rock. They did not explain any of this to us when we checked in even though I said I had three children and one had special needs. I also asked if it was walkable from our site. They assured me it was. My car barely could make it up the steep rock hill and slid a few times just trying to park at our site. Raccoons wrecked all of our stuff overnight even though we put food up which took forever to clean up. There were people standing in our campsite when we finally made it back to the site from other side of Basswood whom I asked to leave! Still unsure if they took anything. The campsite next to us had a crying kid all night and yelling parent. There was a car alarm that went off for ten minutes or so. And the raccoons kept us up as well. We were right next to the bathrooms (with a flood light) which had a banging door the entire time people went in and out. Other things happened as well. I told the staff at the desk about our experience and they didn’t offer any solution although they were kind and said they would forward to management. I also sent two emails to management with no response. We really wanted to enjoy the events and experience but did not. The only good thing about our trip was the fishing which was good. I would like to be refunded for our night due to the circumstances but haven’t had any response yet.

Our stay at this lodge was an absolute nightmare. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that cleanliness and maintenance were not priorities. The kitchen was filthy, with visible grime and food remnants. There were mice droppings in the downstairs bedroom and scattered throughout the cabin, and the lodge was infested with roaches. It was utterly unsanitary and disgusting. The hot tub was leaking water and had a nasty film floating on top, making it completely unusable. The fire pit, which was advertised as an amenity, didn’t even work, and basic lamps throughout the cabin were either broken or non-functional, leaving parts of the lodge poorly lit. To make matters worse, it was clear that all prior damages had been cheaply repaired, leaving the entire property in a state of disrepair. The most distressing part of our stay was that our 1-year-old daughter developed a full-body rash while we were there. We were so concerned that we had to take her to the doctor, where she required treatment. We were so disgusted and uncomfortable that we left a day early. This was, without a doubt, the worst lodging experience we’ve ever had. If you value cleanliness, safety, and basic functionality, avoid this property at all costs. It’s unacceptable that it’s even being rented out in such a terrible condition.
