Beach Acres

Overview

Beach Acres in Wells, Maine, offers a classic coastal camping experience for those looking to explore the southern Maine shoreline. This park provides a peaceful wooded setting while maintaining close proximity to the Atlantic Ocean. Whether you are arriving in a large motorhome or a small travel trailer, the park accommodates various camping styles with a focus on family comfort and convenience. It captures the essence of a traditional Maine summer getaway, where the scent of salt air mixes with the shade of tall pine trees.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just off Route 1, the park is perfectly positioned between the bustling hubs of Ogunquit and Kennebunkport. The primary draw is its distance to the water; it is less than a mile from Wells Beach and Moody Beach. This allows guests to enjoy the seaside without the constant noise of heavy beach traffic. The surrounding area is characterized by salt marshes and the Rachel Carson National Wildlife Refuge, offering a beautiful backdrop for birdwatching and quiet walks near tidal estuaries.

  • Full hookup sites with water, sewer, and electricity.
  • Clean modern bathhouses and laundry facilities.
  • A recreational playground and shaded green spaces.

A standout feature is the nearby trolley stop, providing easy transportation to the beaches and downtown shops during the peak summer season, which saves travelers the difficulty of finding beach parking.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

There is no shortage of activities within a short drive or trolley ride. Visitors can explore the Marginal Way in Ogunquit, a scenic cliff-side walk with breathtaking ocean views. Shopping enthusiasts will appreciate the proximity to local antique shops and the Kittery Outlets. For a taste of local culture, guests often visit the Wells Reserve at Laudholm or enjoy fresh lobster at nearby seafood shacks. The area is also known for its historic lighthouses and vibrant art galleries.

Who This Park Is Best For

Don’t recomend for tenting. Facilities are well maintained but camping sites are very tight and not private whatsoever. When you’re at your campfire you’re starting at your neighbor at theirs 15 ft away. Bring soap for the restroom as none is provided.

It's a great field. No firepits, tables, or bathrooms. Literally just a grass lot. It worked for what I was there for which was parking for the Maine Coast Half Marathon but for camping, there's nothing to be had. And it's hard to find because it's actually back in the mobile home park to the south. Maps navigates you to the north side of the mobile home park. It was very confusing.

I'm a seasonal at Beach Acres and it is the best park on the Seacoast. Reasonably priced compared to most of the parks and less than a mile to the water. Owners are super nice.

Good place. Strange part the dog are supposed to be not allowed vut i see 3 dog and person walking with this dog. I don’t really understand why the rule’s seen not the same for everyone.

The experience itself was good. Facilities were clean. Staff was friendly. Overall, we had a great experience. Only issue for us was the amount of skunks that walked around at night. They were not afraid of people and very food driven. One came right up to my chair and stole a marshmallow. Another night, it came right into my tente because the kids had left food goldfish crackers there. They were not afraid of humans. Having said that, we only smelled skunk 2x in the five nights we were there. But definitely a problem that needs to be dealt with.

My family has been coming to Beach Acres Campground for over 38 years. With amenities for all ages, pool, playground, basketball, horseshoe and shuffle board courts. And just walking distance to Scoop Deck for a sweet treat or to Wells Beach. Beautiful spot for our Summer getaway.

We had a place there a few years ago. They make rules as they go along and they nickel and dime you to death. Their seasonal rates are the highest in that area. Also when we sold our camper they took 20% off of our sale and kept it. When we resisted they said that we couldn’t sell it. Sandy is a Walker so she’s always nosing around. Also Her insulated water cup is filled with vodka and milk. Good luck to anyone that would Do business with them. I wish someone warned us.
