Beaufort Waterway RV Park

Overview

Beaufort Waterway RV Park offers a serene coastal retreat along the North Carolina shore. This destination is defined by its uncluttered environment and proximity to the water, providing a quiet alternative to more crowded beach resorts. It serves as an ideal gateway for those looking to explore the historic charm of the Crystal Coast while maintaining a relaxed pace of travel throughout their stay.

Location & Surroundings

Situated just north of historic Beaufort, the park sits near the banks of Core Creek, which forms part of the Intracoastal Waterway. The surroundings are characterized by scenic marshlands and tall pines, offering a rustic feel that reflects the natural beauty of eastern North Carolina. Guests can enjoy breathtaking sunsets over the water and frequent sightings of local coastal birds and marine life from the park grounds.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for comfort and convenience, offering spacious sites with full hookups, including 30 and 50 amp service. Visitors have access to a clean bathhouse, laundry facilities, and reliable Wi-Fi to stay connected during their coastal adventure. One of the standout features is the direct water access, often making it a favorite for travelers who bring their own kayaks or small boats to explore the surrounding channels.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

A short drive brings visitors to the historic Beaufort waterfront, where they can walk the boardwalk or visit the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Outdoor enthusiasts often take ferries to Cape Lookout National Seashore to see the iconic lighthouse and famous wild horses. Additionally, the nearby Atlantic Beach provides sandy shores for swimming, while Fort Macon State Park offers a deep dive into local military history.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is best suited for active boaters and anglers who want quick access to the Intracoastal Waterway for fishing and exploration. It is also an excellent choice for couples or retirees seeking a quiet, low-key home base away from the high-traffic tourist zones of the main beaches. If you prefer a simpler, more authentic coastal experience over a commercialized resort, this location will perfectly fit your travel style.

I can’t speak for the campground but I do not recommend the boat slips. Over the 4th of July weekend I booked a wet slip online, sight unseen to use for a few days while we were from out of town for a few days visiting family. After paying a $62 deposit online I received a phone call from the business owner, Richard stating that it would be better if I waited a day until I used the slip due to ongoing dredging in the dock area. I was assured that my balance would reflect deducting a day from my reservation. I agreed, and I waited until the next morning to go put my boat in the slip. When I arrived, the entrance to my assigned slip was 2’ deep and had very limited access due to another boat in close proximity. Also, dredging had not been completed and hazards associated with operating a boat in the dock area had not been mitigated. I spoke with Richard face to face and voiced my concerns and stated I did not feel comfortable trying to squeeze into the slip and requested a refund. He agreed with my request and assured me a refund minus any processing fees that were charged would be credited back to my card.(Cancellation policy was never mentioned) I understood the fees and was ok with that. Today I received a refund of $13 of my $62 deposit! I spoke with Richard about the inadequate refund amount and he stated that the difference was due to fees. Even if fees were 10% it would’ve only amounted to a little over $6 not nearly $50!!! I gave him a chance to make it right as a credible business owner and he chose not to so that’s the purpose of this review. I’m not upset about the money as much as I am being lied to. It’s his business, he can do what he wants to but don’t tell people one thing then not follow through with it when given the opportunity. Again, it’s about credibility and integrity for me. I’ll take my business elsewhere in the future. He answered the phone at 7 pm. If he wanted to handle this during office hours he could’ve done that but again, he chose not to. Typical situation of always playing the victim.

Nice park close to Havelock and Beaufort. Additional improvements are currently underway. Staff is very helpful & friendly. Good views of the intercoastal waterway and boat traffic as well as fishing from the pier or your site. Sits in the shadow of the overpass so expect some traffic noise at times. Take a minute to review the rules before booking as there are a few that are different from other parks. May be best suited for families with older or no children due to proximity to the water and strong currents. We camped at Beaufort Waterway RV Park in a Motorhome.

We enjoyed our stay a lot! Clean lot, boat ramp was easy to access, boat parking was nice and secure, and to top it off everyone was super nice. The owner is very polite and very reasonable when needed. We will be staying here again a lot and i highly recommend staying here. Not a far drive from beaufort waterfront. After a trip to the grocery store we just took our boat everywhere from then on out. The creek is very simple to navigate and it is an easy boat ride to morehead waterfront and Beaufort water front to attend activities and restaurants.

Our family took a last minute trip to the coast and the only place that was pet-friendly that had availability for the four nights we needed was Beaufort Waterway RV Park. We stayed in Cabin 2. It was immaculate and didn't have any "pet aroma" at all, which was a pleasant surprise. The loft upstairs could have easily accommodated two or three children in sleeping bags or on cord or a futon. Mrs. Tina was very friendly and showed us around at our nighttime arrival. My husband and son enjoyed fishing right from the grassy area by our cabin, as well as on the pier. Highly recommend!

Spent a great week here while visiting family! Our drive-in site was right on the intercoastal waterway! Saw many beautiful boats/yachts daily as well as a smaller cruise ship!! We arrived a day early and the owners Richard & Janet were very accommodating and directed us to this beautiful site as well as taking his personal time to give me explicit directions on how to get to the campground!! I highly recommend this smaller but growing piece of paradise!!! They have wonderful staff (Meg and Billy) to answer any questions and they work very hard to maintain its beauty. Enjoy!!!! Karen V.

Find another spot. Place could be awesome but owner is shady and lies about offerings and amenities. Bath houses are rarely open for use. Place is always under construction. Road noise is terrible. And again so is the owner. I couldn’t have been more disappointed and would rather stay most anywhere else in the amazing town of Beaufort

I can not sat enough about the staff!!! They are very nice from the owner and his wife to the office. It was raining when we was in route, they called to let us now when it stopped and the sun was out. The houseboat was just as expected! Clean and plenty of room. Fishing, with so much needed time to relax!! Thanks to this team on a great stay! See you in a few months!!

We spent 1 month at the fishing cottage and couldn't be happier with the location's cleanliness, VIEW and the very friendly and accommodating staff. Richard gave us a package deal for household goods and boat storage and rental of the cottage. He also let us store overflow equipment on the back porch. Lisa in the office is very helpful, attentive and loves to have a good chat. The park is remote but right on the ICW and we love it for that. Highly recommend this place and have seen the plans for expansion... it looks amazing! They also have a boat house! Their boat launch is well maintained and can accommodate large boats!

We have stayed here twice and love it. The camping spots are big enough and clean. It's a newer campground still a work in progress. We love the fact it's right on the inter costal so we just walk out our camper and fish. This will be our go to campground for this part of NC. We plan on booking before we leave here to. Lastly the staff here is great very accommodating. The only down side is the early check out.

We recently camped here while visiting Harkers Island , Cape Lookout Lighthouse and Beaufort. It was a great campground. Extremely clean, very courteous and accommodating staff. It is a fairly new campground and located right on the inter coastal waterway. Their is boat access and future plans for cabin rentals. It was a great family atmosphere. If you’re looking for all of the bells and whistles of game rooms, playgrounds, putt putt and swimming pools to baby sit your kids this might not be the place for you, but if you after quality time fishing with your kids and enjoying family fires I would highly recommend it. We were only about 10-15 minutes to Beaufort. I’ll be back for sure!!!
