Beaver Creek

Overview

Beaver Creek State Park offers a serene escape into the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains. Spanning over 2,700 acres, this park is defined by the steep-walled gorge of Little Beaver Creek, a state and national wild and scenic river. RV travelers will find a rustic environment that emphasizes natural beauty and historical preservation. It is a place where history meets the outdoors, featuring a preserved pioneer village and remnants of the canal era, providing a unique backdrop for a quiet camping getaway in Eastern Ohio.

Location & Surroundings

Situated in East Liverpool, OH, the park is nestled along the Pennsylvania border, making it an accessible retreat for those traveling through the tri-state area. The surrounding landscape is characterized by rugged sandstone cliffs and dense forests of hemlock and beech trees. The park’s location within the Little Beaver Creek Valley provides a secluded atmosphere, far removed from the noise of major highways, while still remaining within a short drive of the Ohio River’s historic industrial towns.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground at Beaver Creek accommodates both tents and RVs, offering a mix of electric and non-electric sites. Visitors have access to essential facilities that ensure a comfortable stay in a wooded setting. While the atmosphere is more rustic than a luxury resort, the well-maintained sites offer plenty of shade and privacy. Key park features include:

  • Electric hookups available at most sites for RV convenience.
  • Access to heated showers and modern flush toilets.
  • A functional on-site dump station and potable water fill up.
  • Picnic tables and fire rings provided at every individual campsite.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy over 16 miles of hiking trails that wind through the valley and along the creek. History buffs should not miss Gaston’s Mill, a fully restored water-powered gristmill located within the Pioneer Village. The creek itself is a premier destination for canoeing and fishing, particularly for smallmouth bass. Just a short drive away, the city of East Liverpool offers a look into the region's heritage at the Museum of Ceramics, celebrating the area’s history as a former pottery capital.

Who This Park Is Best For

Beaver Creek is an ideal destination for nature lovers and history enthusiasts who prefer a quiet, state park experience over a commercial RV resort. It is perfect for families looking to disconnect and explore the woods or for couples seeking a peaceful retreat near the water. Because the terrain is somewhat rugged and the sites are carved into the forest, it is particularly suited for mid-sized RVs and trailers whose owners appreciate birdwatching, photography, and a slower pace of travel.

I was able to quietly sit at a picnic table next to the river and eat my lunch. Very peaceful. I've been coming here for decades. The Pioneer Festival is always fun.

4/5 stars bc there is no place to swim here. This place is more focused on equine and hiking trails. Beautiful place to be, lots to do, fishing.. history, old locks and flour mill. Lots of wildlife. Be safe

Peaceful, scenic, quiet, well kept. It only has pit latrines, but this park is in my top 3. I always find myself feeling serene and full of gratitude when I stay here.

This is probably my most favorite park!! It's so clean and beautiful here! My husband, kids and I love getting in the creek, having picnics, and camping!

A new to us state park near the Pennsylvania border. It is the most quiet place we have stayed in Ohio. There is also an equestrian camp area with 20ish miles of trails. The scenic outlook trail is nice, but the trees impede the view. If you are a tent camper, take the higher numbered spots. You will not be disappointed. Only six electric spots if needed. Pit potty. Solar shower only. Playground. Be sure to check out the picnic areas and Pioneer Village. Also, the locals are sooooo nice! Hats off to the lady park worker who checked on us daily. She was absolutely lovely! Wish we knew her name as we forgot to ask.

There are old pioneer cabins decorated for the time period. They have a little store with some unique toys, clothes, snacks and drinks. Prices are very reasonable. The nature center is so cool for all ages! It's open on weekends only because it's ran by volunteers. It does close for the winter season too. The only thing this park doesn't have is a playground, but there is plenty of other things to do. Really nice well marked hiking trails.
