Beaver Dam Campground

Overview

Beaver Dam Campground provides a classic Maine camping experience centered on a serene, spring-fed pond in the quiet town of Berwick. This family-operated park emphasizes a welcoming community atmosphere where guests can unwind under a thick canopy of mature trees. The park is well-regarded for its tall pines and meticulously maintained grounds, offering a sense of seclusion that is perfect for a weekend getaway. It successfully strikes a balance between traditional outdoor living and modern conveniences, making it an ideal destination for those exploring the scenic Southern Maine region.

Location & Surroundings

Tucked away in the southwestern corner of the state, the park offers a peaceful escape from the bustling tourist corridors. The surrounding landscape is defined by rolling woodlands and the quiet, glassy waters of Beaver Dam Pond, which is reserved for non-motorized activities. This restriction ensures a tranquil environment for wildlife viewing and relaxation. While the setting feels deeply rural, the park remains conveniently located just a short drive from the Atlantic coastline and the New Hampshire border, offering the best of both forest and sea.

Amenities & Park Features

The campground is thoughtfully equipped for modern RVers, offering level full hookup sites with both 30 and 50-amp electrical service. Guests have access to a variety of premium on-site features, including a sparkling heated swimming pool, a well-stocked camp store for essentials, and a spacious recreation hall for community events. For those navigating larger rigs, the park provides wide pull-through sites that simplify setup. The spring-fed pond remains a primary draw, offering excellent opportunities for catch-and-release fishing and peaceful morning paddling in kayaks or canoes.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

While the park itself feels like a secluded retreat, it is perfectly positioned for adventurous day trips to the famous beaches of Ogunquit and York. Visitors can spend the morning exploring the scenic Marginal Way or photographing the iconic Nubble Lighthouse before returning to the quiet of the woods. Nearby Sanford provides access to local golf courses and shopping, while the wider region offers numerous hiking trails and antique shops. The proximity to the coast allows for easy access to fresh Maine lobster and local seafood dining experiences.

Who This Park Is Best For

This park is an excellent choice for families and retirees who appreciate a slower, more intentional pace of life. It is particularly ideal for travelers who want to explore the vibrant Southern Maine coast during the day but prefer to retreat to a quiet, wooded sanctuary at night. Because of its dedicated fishing and boating opportunities, it is well-suited for outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy starting their day on the water. It caters to those who value a clean, friendly, and quiet environment over the high-traffic atmosphere of coastal resorts.

Visited over Labor Day weekend! Many fun kid friendly events were taking place. Everyone made us feel very welcome and included in the games and activities we participated in! Although our campsite was more open than we typically like we made the best of it. The field was awesome for us to watch our kids play in, and we could still stay with our dogs at the camp site. We enjoyed our visit very much and can’t wait to go back next year!

We love this campground because it's driving distance from all the ridiculous ocean/touristy things, but the campground itself is quiet and has fun things to do. Even going on a holiday weekend, people were respectful, and the planned weekend activities were fun and family friendly. The pond, pool, mini golf, etc, gives a lot of options for downtime, and nobody is kept up late with partiers.

We had a quick overnight stay here on our way to Acadia and would have loved to stay longer. We got in after hours however the employees stayed open to check us in and let us buy firewood. They also upgraded our site to a waterfront site free of charge. Staff was friendly, bathrooms were very clean and upgraded. Would happily stay here again and recommended this location to others.

We rented both cabins for 4 nights. We went during the quiet season so there wasn’t much going on but it was the most peaceful, relaxing place I’ve stayed at. We had 2 pre-teens with us who enjoyed the beautiful pool, playing golf, horseshoes. The cabins were the perfect size for a quick get away stay. They were clean and looked so beautiful with all the wood interior. The staff and owners were so kind and helpful for weeks before we arrived. Check in was so easy it only took a couple minutes. The history of the land is something in itself you really need to check it out. Don’t forget your fishing pole although the campground store has everything you need. We will be back. I’d give them 10 stars if I could

This place was great for a family with small children. Small enough kids could branch out on their own a little and still have site of them. Excellent bathrooms super clean. Staff was all pleasant and welcoming at all times. My only negative to the whole experience was the camp grounds are very close together. My site i was literally standing 5 feet from the people next to us. I would most definitely book here again as my kids had a blast.

We rented a cabin at Beaver Dam and the cabin was nice and clean when we arrived, the grand children enjoyed the variety of things to do. I also liked how clean the bathroom/showers were as well. The staff was also very accommodating with all our requests. We also enjoyed the size if the campground…small and sweet and never had to wait to do any activites.

We enjoyed camping at this campground, we were seasonal members this year. The staff is pleasant and attentive, they all work hard to provide you a great experience. The activities and special events were fun for people of all ages. The campground offers "curbside" trash (no running to a dumpster) and the bathrooms are kept immaculate and cleaned daily. Can't say enough good things about this place.

My family and I just love this campground!! We tent camp and have always gone to state parks and thought this Summer we’d try something different. We camped for three days right by the water and it was so beautiful. The price was extremely reasonable and we had such a great time that we actually booked our next trip just a couple hours after we got back from our first trip. I was really impressed with how clean everything was from the bathrooms and showers to how well the grounds were kept and maintained. The pool was always clean and the lake was just beautiful with fishing and swimming. The campground seemed full when we camped both times, but we never felt crowded as you’re able to spread out and play mini golf or go on the lake or the pool. There are many options of things to do which we really appreciated, especially with kids of different ages. I highly recommend this campground and have already to our friends and family!

Beaver Dam Campground was amazing! The sites were spacious and well kept. There was nice open space - so refreshing to have a place that doesn't pack in as many people as possible. Amenities were wonderful - so much attention to details and the little things that just make camping life easier. Bathrooms and shower area was exceptional. Staff was friendly and helpful. They offer lots of activities to engage. We would come here again.

We love the size and layout of Beaver Dam Campground. We got a waterfront site. The bullfrogs were entertaining. The beach, pool and kid's mining area were all nice. The campground road is laid out in a big oval, with basketball in the middle, which seems nice if you have kids. They get to ride, but they're never far from sight. Great location to visit other places.
