Beaver Lake - COE/Dam Site River

Overview

Located just below the massive Beaver Lake Dam, the Dam Site River campground offers a serene escape along the banks of the upper White River. As a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers facility, it provides a well-maintained and budget-friendly outdoor experience in the heart of the Ozarks. The park is defined by its crystal-clear tailwaters and the dramatic limestone bluffs that tower over the valley, creating a picturesque backdrop for RVers seeking a connection with nature.

Location & Surroundings

Situated a short drive from the historic streets of Eureka Springs, AR, this park feels worlds away from the hustle and bustle. The campground sits in a deep valley where the cold river water creates a refreshing microclimate, even during the peak of summer. Surrounded by dense hardwood forests, visitors can enjoy the sight of bald eagles soaring above the river or listen to the gentle flow of water released from the dam, making it a premier spot for scenic relaxation.

Amenities & Park Features

The park is designed for comfortable, self-contained travel with a focus on the outdoor environment. Most sites feature electric hookups and are spacious enough to accommodate various rig sizes. Key amenities include:

  • Convenient boat ramp access for easy entry into the White River.
  • Clean restrooms and shower facilities for guest use.
  • A central dump station and potable water fill sites.
  • A playground area for families traveling with children.

The layout emphasizes privacy and views, ensuring that the natural landscape remains the star of the show.

Nearby Attractions & Things to Do

The primary draw here is the world-class trout fishing; the cold waters are stocked regularly, making it a haven for fly-fishing enthusiasts. Beyond the river, the eclectic town of Eureka Springs is just minutes away, offering unique shopping, art galleries, and Victorian architecture. For those who prefer larger bodies of water, the Beaver Lake reservoir is easily accessible above the dam, providing opportunities for swimming, scuba diving, and pontoon boating in stunningly clear water.

Who This Park Is Best For

This campground is ideal for dedicated anglers looking for easy access to one of the nation's best trout fisheries. It also appeals to nature photographers and travelers who prefer a quiet, rustic atmosphere over a commercial resort experience. If you enjoy a peaceful mountain setting and don't mind a lack of Wi-Fi in exchange for starry nights and riverfront views, this COE park is a perfect fit for your Arkansas itinerary.

Made a reservation to stay here but then found out that an Arkansas fishing license to fish 2 days is $50 or $100 for my wife and I. That's twice the price of MO or OK. I cancelled. Absolutely ridiculous. I'll spend my money in a different state.

It is so beautiful at this park. It’s like a different world down behind the dam. The river is beautiful and peaceful, such a relaxing place.

Stayed in site 8. Not sure there is a bad site here. Clean and site were nicely spaced. Good river access.

What a great gem of a campground, hidden in the fingers of Beaver Lake and the White River. The sites are roomy, although leveling was an issue due to a failed hydraulic jack, we had electric and water hookups, and a dump station for convenience. The leaves were changing, so the sights were beautiful. The weather kept us from doing any hikes, but the opportunity is there. We would definitely stay again.

This is really beautiful, and something to see. A park for fishing or picnics exists on one side of the dam. It's a great place for families to hang out. If you go to the overlook, that's where you see and hear all the water being released.

We were in site 10. Pretty level but looks like this whole area hasn't been mowed in months. Also the fire pits look like they haven't been cleaned out a long time.

Park is not as advertised, worst COE Park I have stayed in. Camp host are friendly and trying. Corp rangers are uncaring about host or visitors. Little Rock District headquarters need to fix this. No fresh water available any where at this location. Will never visit this area again.

Nice camping, great water front sites and very clean restrooms and showers. Would love to go back and spend more time there.
